I got a lumia 950xl phone and regretted it. Returned the phone after 2 days.

I had massive troubles trying to get Gmail contacts to sync. I managed to do this only after 3 or 4 factory resets.
The main issue was that on BB10 there is still a chance to get android apps while on Windows there are none!
For example on Windows you have runtastic but now it is discontinued and it is awful. On BB10 you have Casca Run. Also, I ca use banking apps on BB10 by side loading via Snap.

Keep in mind in Windows 10 mobile you have to keep the browser open to keep YouTube playing. Same as android and ios.

    Windows on a Tablet... dream.

Windows on a Phone.... very bad dream.

OP the choice is either Apple that you don't want or Android that you think is primitive.... that's it to get a full mobile experience in 2017.

I like Win10 mobile. I have used it on a 650 lumia. Not bad at all, I receive a lot of updates almost daily. I was personally expecting a battery that would have lasted longer. Oh, I forgot....Wa sucks...a bit slow!!

Its not that I want to replace my second passport but its clearly getting more obsolete by the month (O/S wise). Is windows phone that bad? I have seen a few comments of previous blackberry users saying windows phone was their next choice based on trying a windows phone

I have owned quite a few Windows phones. I like their OS a lot. That being said, I feel that it is just a matter of time before it goes the way of the dodo bird and BB10 and becomes extinct.

BB10 should be fine till 2019, unless you're desperate for apps.. A lot can change in two years, and I intend to wait out the Android and Apple duopoly at least till then.. Maybe WPh/Continuum will be ready, maybe another paradigm will come along....

You should give one a try, I picked up a lumia 650 on black Friday for $99. Dual sim quad core, not bad for the price.

Missed the most part of the discussion, but if the question is still actual then WP was awful. I've used WP7, don't know about the newest versions, but after that phone I've decided that I'll never have a deal with Microsoft (except desktop software). Making a call looked like a tricky quest (so laggy...) Another "surprise" happened after three years of use. Microsoft said "Thank you guys, you were nice testers, buy our new phone please, your old one will transform into a pumpkin". They've simply started turning off sevices like Skype and even Gmail.

Walked into the Mediamarkt. Tested all phones on display on following tasks: call, write text, make picture, view picture gallery. And the winner was..... Lumina 650. The tester was 78 years old and had never used a smartphone before.

I kinda like the WP. The thing has the weirdest bugs though. Strangest one being the wifi connection stopping. "luckily" soon after purchase there was an OTA update that solved it. Looking at the WP forum though showed the bug had been ongoing for say 8 months.

Not sure whether I would consider a new WP.

Picked up a lumia 640xl for $40 today with a cracked screen. I actually like the OS a lot. The windows store also makes blackberry world look pretty obsolete. I will test it out for the week and see.

So far im sold on it as a BB10 alternative. The tile system is very unique and innovative and looks really cool. It appears they have borrowed at least one idea from BB10, the home screen

I happen to use a Nokia 830 myself. It is, in some ways, superior to the 650. I like that the main screen is extremely customizable and looks nothing like a row of icons. No one could ever mistaken a windows phone for an android phone.

That said, if windows phone is not for the OP, consider a Sony Xperia with sailfish Os. Those phones are out right now, or you can put sailfish over the android and obliterate it. Sailfish, like bb10, is compatible with apks. It is also the closest thing to a gesture'based OS out there after bb10.

My windows phone is my main phone. My passport is my email and messaging phone.

I do have a 9930, but I treat it like a PDA or ereader.

The Guide is definitive. Reality is frequently inaccurate.

Windows 10 Mobile is still awful. I have one and when I picked up after a while I hadn't used for a while I noticed how bad the user interface really is. The main screen is just full of nonsense, moving tiles and you're not sure what they do even if you have used it. Then the application menu is full of crap and it takes ages to scroll or find whatever you want. The settings screen is still a pain to navigate through. Windows 10 Mobile is simply a turkey.

If you like BB10, then you will not like Windows 10 Mobile and you will think it is ******** because it really is. If loads of apps is not important for you maybe you should try Jolla Sailfish OS. Jolla will come to the Sony Xperia X among other models so when you are tired of the preinstalled Android on it you can install SFOS on it instead.
Yes. Just read this and am checking out prices.

So go from one OS on the way out to another OS that's on its way out unless they do something drastic? Doesn't look like the surface phone is coming anytime soon. So I would say Apple is your route if you don't want android. But I will say android has come a long way
