My leap is also supposed to support lte and it always displays 4g, what gives?

    Posted via CB10
It doesn't support LTE band 66 as to why. Nor does my passport, classic and the Q10 or any priors.

Ya but they've added other lte frequencies, like 2500 mhz and allocated some of the aws-1 spectrum, so the leap should be getting lte now.

That's only for eastern Ontario, eg. Kingston and area.
Not the GTHA or other coverage areas.

Actually, Bands 4 & 7 LTE will launch in the GTHA by spring and all Freedom users whose devices at capable will have it added to their grandfathered plans for free. In fact, B4 and B7 LTE has been spotted in downtown Toronto already over the last 2 or 3 days, it's a bit patchy but it indicates that Freedom is already at the testing stage.

Noticed that, however I need to force-change the APN on my passport and classic (my friend has the Q10) via the e-screen to the newer one. Will do that once I get home. Can't wait until spring!

It seems most people with BB built devices are having difficulty connecting to LTE, something to do with Freedom's end, apparently. I've tried pretty much everything to connect on my Leap and Passport, including changing the APN settings on the e-screen on my Leap.

Bear in mind that when entering the key, what you type is not visible, neither is the number/symbol portion of the Passport's keyboard.

Any luck on enabling WiFi Calling in the escreen? In addition, changing to WCDMA+LTE always resets to WCDMA-only. It stays on LTE-only but no signal.

    Direct from @freedomsupport:
You can verify this by removing the SIM card. It should have OBP6 printed on them, and be in the IMSI range 302490214 xxx xxx)
else LTE won't work. So get your SIM swapped.

LTE enabled on account shows LTE for a moment before the Z30 falls back to no data service at all, just 4g voice signal. BlackBerry services must be enabled on account for BB10 phones to receive data but TE and BlackBerry services cannot be enabled on the same account.

Incorrect, blackberry services DO NOT need to be enabled on the account for data to work on blackberry 10 or legacy devices (OS 7/6/5/4.x BIS won't work at all though, just 3G data). Turn data on, and it will work just fine.

Actually depends on the carrier. I had a Z30 on Bell and Bell required that BB10 phones be on BIS or BES. You have no idea how many times I argued with them that I wanted a normal data plan and the Z30 would work.

Guess what, they put me a normal data plan and it doesn’t work lol

It has something to do with the settings in the phone.

I know technically that Z30 does not need BlackBerry services but in the Wind configuration, it seems they must be on the account.

Living proof, Z30 has no data right now but iPhone gets LTE on same SIM.

I am backing that with Bell Mobiliy: My Z30 has no data if I put my iPhone 6S sim in it (with an adaptor of course)

Wind/freedom (it's really just a name), I get data on all of my blackberry devices (BB10/BBOS), without the blackberry-specific addon (plan is an android one).

There may be some other factor here but I know for a fact that with some carrier, BB10 device requires a BIS or BES plan.

I have data with Bell on a Z30. You need to manually change the APN. Default Blackberry.net doesn’t work. Change to pda.bell.ca or whatever you have on your iPhone/android.

This has been discussed on this forum in the past.

Had the same discussion with Bell, and some reps just don’t get it.

Yeah, I thought of that. Maybe I will give it another shot on Wind.

Hey Brian, how do you have that Hub shortcut on the bottom left of your home screen? Z30 has a phone icon.

The classic has that hub shortcut. All others have the phone icon.
