Some of you might be wondering why Verizon have no Passport. Answer Simple... When passport shopped around to carriers BlackBerry was in bad bad shape! Financial troubles and too many bad decisions as seen by Verizon management. BlackBerry knew for months that Verizon variant canceled but never let consumers know. Blackberry unlike Apple with Iphonograph 6 and Google with Lexus 6 still play ball by carrier rules. How do you think BlackBerry gets presented so well in Verizon store and Verizon commercials!

So BlackBerry was in better financial shape when Verizon picked up the Z30? And BB phones are presented well in Verizon stores, really? They don't even sell the Z30.

Even if that's true (and you would need to have insider information here,) Verizon recently re-stocked the Z30. What made them do this?

Raino... no insider information... everyone in cellphone manufacturer business knows Verizon make decisions slow like turtle. Z30 great phone and already approved by Verizon so why not restock.

Really does not matter which carrier carries the Passport... the device will die a quick death due to neglect.... one of the reason you see BB going the reselling route versus carriers... there is far too much money to be made with Apple and Sammy to even bother with BB..... this is why Chen is smart to ignore the consumer market for now and concentrate on Enterprise...... if you get some consumer sales great... The Passport and Classic are aimed squarely at the Enterprise market... Z10 and 30 are basically end of life devices... such is the Blackberry reality to if or when they actually turn everything around.. the truth will be in the numbers at next quarterly report......

Why not restock? Because, as you said, BB is/was believed to be in a delicate financial position. And by what Verizon metrics was the Z30 great? It wasn't good enough to sell in all stores.

The Classic will be sold through carriers though. BB knows that if it's to sell phones in substantial numbers (relative to how many they may sell themselves,) they need carriers. They won't hit home runs like Passport sales all the time.

Raino.... only Z30 metric Verizon liked was the number of Z10 phones they were able to sell out of existing inventory by keeping Z30 out of store lol. Sometimes bean counters win . Z30 was always a better phone from a tech perspective when compared to the Z10. Z30 is the best reviewed Blackberry phone on VZ website... What drives the numbers sometimes matter more than the numbers themselves.

    Long live the Classic!

Atnt will probably want the phone exclusively for some period of time before Verizon picks it up. Might have to see how the classic sells for a while too.

When ATT officially offers it at cheaper than full price cost, I'm jumping ship too.

So, basically you're saying that Verizon won't be carrying the Passport because they decided not to carry it.

    Hard to argue with that.
