    Is it just me or is verizon the only cellphone company that refuses to waive the activation fee?

    I heard it's free if you order online, but I bought mines from the store AND paid a $400 deposit just to be charged a $36.05 activation fee.

    It's free on the verizon site for new orders placed Friday-Monday. Also believe activation is waved for customers who are upgrading.

    Okay people... ^^;

    As for the activation fees, every company has 'em. They're usually waved for certain specials or sales. Some indirect stores like to have an extra "activation fee" so they can credit it to make themselves look good. :P

    Please tell me that is your very first bill?! If so it shouldn't be so high the next billing cycle.

    Yes it was.. They actually alloted me 87 minutes because I activated on the 2nd and they say my billing cycle started on the 8th so they tried to charge me and additional $45 dollars for overages but since I wasn't notified @ activation of the 87 minutes they credited me and reduced my bill to $172.

    Nice! So do you know how much your bill will be next month?
    Also a lot of companys offer discounts...maybe check that out.

    As part of employeer discounts, they also dictate what fees you'll pay when signing up, adding lines, and upgrading. My empolyeer discount is 17% off the main plan + an addition 20% of features (i.e. BlackBerry data), 25% off any accessory (in store or online), no activation fees, no upgrade fees. It's been nice

    I've never paid an activation fee with Verizon, ever. That was a VIP perk, but of course that program has been discontinued, so who knows if that will change or not.

    EDIT:
    ^Oh, I get the same discount so maybe I will continue to be not be charged the fee.
