Okay - a rumor fabricated by a facetious soul here in the office. $799 and will be available only with the full tethering plan, because as we all have heard here - VZW rips everyone off, including the poor minimum wagers who shouldnt try to afford the service, much less the phone.

And oh yes - it will be ineligible for any discounts/rebates/NE2 before Dec 26th.

I don't think anyone here knows with any certainty, but I'd not be surprised to see $399 or maybe even $499 before any discounts or loyalty promos.

    Or I could be off & we'll see $299.

My bet is for higher price at first.

"I guess RIM doesn’t like BlackBerry Niagara, which was the name of BlackBerry 9630. RIM decided to name the new BlackBerry 9630 “BlackBerry Tour”, which is much better than Niagara. The BlackBerry Tour gets official release today, as RIM announced that the Tour phone will be available in this summer at Sprint and Verizon Wireless, and probably by Bell and Telus in Canada. The Tour phone will be available for $199 with a 2-yr contract agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate. Unlike the controversial BlackBerry Storm phone, which causes many die-hard BlackBerry users to hate BlackBerry products, the BlackBerry Tour doesn’t have a touchscreen."

Features and Specifications of BlackBerry Tour 9630

    Dual-band CDMA/EVDO Rev A (800/1900 MHz)
    Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
    2100 MHz UMTS/HSPA
    2.44 inch, 480 x 360 pixels TFT display with 65k colors (nope, it’s not a touchscreen)
    35-key QWERTY keyboard
    GPS / A-GPS
    BlackBerry Maps
    Full HTML web browser
    DataViz Documents to Go
    Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP
    3.5 mm headset jack
    Music, video players
3.2MP autofocus camera with image stabilization, flash and video recording
    256MB internal flash memory
microSD card support, up to 32GB
    1400 mAh battery
Talk time: up to 5 hours
Standby time: up to 14 days
    112 x 62 x 14.2 mm
    130 g

Seems like the most strait forward review site... telling truthful sounding facts about the BB tour... also going along the lines of pricing like I had previously mentioned :P

So if I order a Pre on that link, I will get knives? I really wanted a Ronco Veg-O-Matic or a toaster!

Better yet, can I get those male enhancement pills that make me longer & thicker? Oh wait - at 6'8" & 280lbs, maybe I am long & thick enough.

I think someone missed the joke. Dad was joking. It won't be 799, and you WILL be able to use your NE2 if eligible. It will be an expensive BB thou, think early Bold pricing. If I recall at first the Bold was 399, but included a 100 rebate to take it to the 299 price point.

    But we shall see.

I just assumed he did get the joke, given his(?) use of rediculous.

The emoticon was more reason for my assumption.

Hopefully it will be between $149.99 and $199.99 USD before a rebate. I just got my BlackBerry Storm in December, I'm not going to Qualify for the Rebate anyways. Maybe, just Maybe, The full retail price won't be more than $600 USD.

It won't be that cheap before rebate, remember the Storm was 249 with a 50 rebate for a price point of 199 2 year contract (yea yea it's cheaper now) For sure the Tour will be at LEAST that much but probably more for a 2 year. I'm almost willing to bet it will 350-400 range 2 year, BUT include at least a 50 rebate. I'll stick with my 349 contract price, minus 50 rebate for a price point of 299, JUST like the Bold had a release.

HOWEVER we won't really know the pricing till VZW announces it, which they have chosen not to do as of yet. Or give us a date. But I still think 7/13 or perhaps a week after that as being VERY possible. I've heard friendly testing is going well.

EDIT: I DO hope I'm wrong, because I can't justify spending 300 for another phone (at annual upgrade time, so no NE2 for me) Maybe I'll get an Atlas, if that mythical device has wifi and is at a good price point. I think I can get my annual at the 10 month mark which would be Sept.

$400 with a two year contract? No way. Remember, AT&T had exclusivity for the Bold, whereas the 9630 will be both on Verizon and Sprint. We already know Sprint's pricing, so it would only make sense for Verizon to keep it similar. I would think it would be $249 with a 2-year at the most.

VZW pricing: $249.99 before $70 rebate. Don't know what the non-discounted price will be.
Its concrete. I dont know about instant online discount though.
These quotes are taken from the Tour forum. He claims its correct info..

Unofficially looking like mid-July. It's better than the Curve in almost every manner - from speed, software, camera, etc.

    Also... go Noles! ('05 grad)

I'm guessing it will be around the $199 mark, maybe even $149 after rebate, there is so much competition right now with the new iPhone, Palm Pre (say whatever you'd like about them but they are attracting customers) and the fact that the Tour is not a Verizon exclusive except maybe the non-WiFi version.
