I'm still using .77. What is the latest supported upgrade for the curve. Also, I'm using Desktop Manager 4.2. Is there a newer one I should use?

    Thanks

    According to the website:
    BlackBerry® Software Updates

Select to download Device Software used with Desktop Manager or VZAccess Manager.

BlackBerry Device Software v4.5 (updated 10/31/2008)

Is the last time they've updated it. You can upgrade your desktop manager to 4.7 if you want.

Yes DM 5.0 was just released on the site. I know when 4.7 was there it has some issue for the older BB devices. You can try 5.0, or download 4.6 from the blackberry.com. THat version worked flawlessly for my curve.

LOL...I just now downloaded 4.7 from the blackberry site. I didn't see 5.0. Is my curve considered an older device?

    Thanks

Back down to 4.6 - there have been problems with the Media Manager component in 4.7 with Curves, Pearls & WEs.

I've never had issues with 4.7, I have had some recent issues with 5.0 that they just released and synching with the tour.

I was looking through my downloaded files, and I see that I downloaded .97, but never installed it? Since I'm reading here that .160 has problems with verizon, how is .97 on the curve? Is anyone happy with .97? Would I gain anything over .77?

    1. Can Desktop Manager 4.7 be used to upgrade the Curve 8330 OS to 4.5x or do I have to use DM 5.0?

    2. Is there any advantage to using one or the other?

    4. Do I have to use a Verizon branded Desktop Manager or is any version OK?

    THanks.

    1. A lot of folks are still using DM 4.6 without media manager because it has been reliable. For some, 4.7 and 5.0 have been buggy.

    2. See above.

3 or 4. I pulled my DM and OS off the RIM site.

Load up .160! Very stable, great memory management, overall a huge improvement, especially to .77! Load it up and enjoy!
