We'll allow the rapid fire posts, what we sometimes call padding or bumping, for jlb, in this thread, because he is typing while on the phone at a press conference. AND because he's providing good info.

Thanks. Actually forgot about the rules......

actually at work on lunch break.....

Need someone to take the lead on the device side. Top partner in the dev process...LG.

I take this to mean first phones for LTE will be LG

I can see the ads now: 4g LG...say that 10x fast

Close by reinforcing 3 key points:

    - commitment to superior network performance
    - Sunday...is just the beginning...will fine tune expand..enhance...etc....continued aggressive expansion...we believe our customers will demand
    - not all 4g is the same....a big deal....noted Android....Android took off when VZW got behind it. LTE with VZW behind it will make a difference and kickstart the next generation of mobile broadband

? about pricing....what is behind undercutting current data plans.....

A: focused o giving customers the ability to do more. $80 seen as point many will go to. 5gb seen as those that want to "try".

I beileive they mean "4G" offered by all carriers is not the same. Read this article:T-Mobile, Sprint Sow Confusion Over '4G' - WSJ.com

? How are you going to let consumers know how much data being used

"system in place that provides users proactively reach points...50%, 75%, 90%, etc..... can always go in and ask from access manager. TXT alerts.

? functionality between 3g and 4g networks...potential loss of connectivity.....

A: there will not be hiccup. There is handoff. one nuance....going from 3g...will stay 3g until you stop transmitting. then will find 4g

? carriers have described networks for data usage...how long to distinguish between voice and data plans....

A: at some point in future when voice is over IP, there will be a time where distinction goes away. May not be 100% true. Quality of service will be imperative. But in general, you will see newly structured (plans).

    ? Timeline

A: for us. the driver is when we have a big enough 4g footprint.....roughly late 2012, early 2013

? can't type fast enough about why same kinds of plans, fees, etc.....new network when are we going to see new plans....

a: we wanted to come out of gate as simple as we could. as network evolves, pricing will too......

? Tell me about hurdles when mixing voice and data..how have you addressed....and you noted when a fully loaded network.....

and then the questioner included.....like having a popular phone like an iPhone on the network

A: voice call will be in 3g network even if in an LTE network. At first. Then eventually all will be in 4g some moving between.......yes, you can have simultaneous voice on 3g and data on 4g.

He also noted something about apps with embedded voice/voip. I think he's alluding to things like skype, where the voice would possibly be part of the 4g traffic.......not sure......
