So I'm a Sprint user who finally may give up the ghost just to get a Z10 now instead of waiting for the unknown with Sprint. Anyhow, I was a Sprint premier customer who enjoyed yearly upgrades before they chucked that out the window for the "upgrade buyout" - paying your prorated ETF to get a new subsidized phone. Does Verizon offer anything similar or am I stuck with a phone for the full contract?

Really not sure but this link might help you out. It is to VZW's online chat. Good luck!

They offer early upgrades. This comes 4 months before your contract ends.

You're eligible for an upgrade after 20 of your 24 month contract. Occasionally the company allows certain customer segments to upgrade prior to their eligibility date. Those specific customers are usually contacted by text message, email, or mailer.

Doubt it. That was a good deal but it was on the older individual plans where data and voice plans were separate.

Nowadays, new customers only can go onto the new mobile share plans.

be warned, you'll be calling them monthly to get your bill corrected, bogus fees, etc., & it'll cost you more to get what you have now w/ sprint...

Hmmm. The one that ended last month was for the new plans I thought...oh well. Guess I've got some thinking to do before blindly jumping over.

Hehe. This stuff is usually a YMMV kind of deal. I have friends say they left every carrier, even Sprint, for the same reasons you listed above. I've just figure its easier to not hold any carrier with high expectations when it comes to billing and customer service.

I also have calculated it out, initially I pay a little more with VZW, but add in my company discount and its pretty even between the two - plus or minus like $3. Of course I'd be a little more comfortable with unlimited data...*sigh*

An upgrade is 18 months for a 2 year contract on Verizon, not 20 or 24. That's how it has always been for me anyway.

I have been a long time customer. Maybe it is different for newer users? I have no clue.

Never been 18, family plan main line was yearly, they changed that to all lines at 20 months. Been with Verizon since it was cellular one way back in the day.

I thought I might be going insane with everyone else saying 20 or 24 haha. But we have been Verizon customers since the late 90s and as I can remember, it has always been 18 months.

EDIT: I also remember when I upgraded to my Droid Razr in December 2011 (got rid of it very quickly), MyVerizon told me that I had 18 months till my next upgrade.

20 months, just had a upgrade available on August 24th, end of contract December 24th = 20 months. I know because I canceled that line in December.
