Here's a question no one has asked - how would this compare to something like Vonage? Looking at their site, the cost difference isn't favorable to Verizon.

Bear in mind I am not a Vonage fan - in fact, I am not even a VoIP fan... but someone might be interested.

Ok here is one for u.
    It is Wi-fi? Correct.
Where as Vonage u have to have it connected
directly into the modem/ or router.
Is the ringer pretty loud on those handsets?
Also a plus that I can see.....
    Definitely not a seperate bill......
Soooooooooo do tell what other features might be coming?
    Tease us please.
I do need a home phone

I played with one yesterday in the VZW store. Pretty cool. Yes it has WIFI so you dont need to be connected via a cable (nice so you don't have to run new cables throught the house). Another cool feature is the iHeart radio app built in. Didn't play with the ringer, but as stated it supports up to 3 additional handsets (so you can place them in multiple rooms). Of course it has intercom so you can call within the house to another handset.

Well after starting the poll as to wether or not to
    use chaperone.
I decided to get the LgEnV.
    I myself havea BB Storm.
Much to my chagrin I have
to have a phone that has
    chaperone capabilities.
Well it looks like I will have to be getting the
    hub.
I was honestly under the impression
that I could run it just
of the PC but u have to have a parent
    phone with the chaperone capabilities.
So well I guess I will be getting the hub.
Of course I will verify that before purchase.
    Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Darn

This "Hub" doesn't sound too bad to me. I pay about $28 per month for a regular phone without any features except caller ID. So for $7 more a month I like it. However, VoIP will not work with my home security system.

But that would defeat his cost analysis. His current setup doesn't need a separate line.

Since we are her salivating about the hub. I have a question; and I am assuming that someone here is a VZ rep. Does VZW have anything such
as a loyalty discount package for their long term customers. Since we keep
buying all the stuff that comes out. I have a friend who has tmobile and the
gave her an android phone. Plus unlimited voice and data on it for 77 a month.
Not trying to hijack the thread just curious.
    Thanks

Leave to Tmo to offer a loyaty plan that gives their service away.

Yes there are loyaty plans, nothing that will give you free equipment and certainly not unlimited minutes.

More like no messaging and very few minutes for 25 per month.

I was hoping there was something; maybe just mabe I will be able to shave some minutes off the kids line.......with the hub.
But I am spoiled I have VZ nav. Google maps doesn't even come clpse for
accuracy. As well as Vcast music. I will in the long run save money with the Vcast subscription.

Great question - I do not believe so, But I will look into this on Monday. I am enjoying my full weekends off as new shifts start and I start working on Sundays. But then again the increase in pay for working sundays is worth it.

The demo unit I played with had a pic of pulamalu as the background. I doubt that pic comes standard. So there should be a way to set your own background.

(fyi: don't know if I spelled the name right, but pulamalu is a safety for the 6 time super bowl champion pittsburgh steelers)

i hear ya...one other one if you have time. if someone calls my hub and they are a verizon customer, is this considered "in calling" or will the person that calls me have these calls counted as their minutes?

IF i is another VZW customer it is in calling. All other fall under the regular pecking order. So another landline or cell carrier is niot concidered in calling

that makes sense. what if someone calls my hub from a landline (and not one of my friends and family) and the similtanious ring rings my cell and i answer it on my cell...would this call count as minutes on my cell number or would this be in calling as well???
