What is the newest and most current OS for the pearl 8130?

I currently have the v4.3.0.97 installed on my phone according to the "about" function.

Is their a newer version coming out and if so when is it coming out? If their already is an upgrade available like this 4.5 i keep hearing about, is that available for the pearl?

It will if all is done correctly. If you are going to try and upgrade you should do a search for the propper upgrade/downgrade procedure. Good luck.

any word on if Verizon plans on releasing this update?

the newest software they have is 4.3.0.97

Just out of curiousity, if all the versions are compatible with all phones, why does it take certain carriers so long to release an update that's been out for months?

All versions are not compatible with all phones. That being said, they must be extensively tested for bugs, then the actual carrier reps must be trained on any newly supported os, hence why the carriers don't officially release newer os's right away.
