I was getting harassed by a former friend since last week. She was calling me and I would send her calls to voicemail, but I would still have to hear that one second of yelling before I could delete and she was also sending me 50-70 nasty texts per day. When she started saying stuff about my kids is when I took action.

I called Verizon mainly to see if I could stop the texts from her and they asked me to try blocking her through vtext.com, but she doesn't have a Verizon phone so that didn't work. They said that I could block ALL texts. No WAY. I love to text my other friends and kids! They suggested that I change my phone number. I really didn't want to do that. So, they transferred me to a "data specialist." I think that's what they called her. She filed a "ticket" that will block her number from being able to call or text me. I did not know that this could be done (especially blocking her texts), but I am so relieved. She said it would take 3-5 business days to take effect and recommended that I file a police report to keep record of this. I filed it last night. The police called her and she has made no contact since.

I was really happy with how Verizon handled this.

I just thought that this might be useful info for anyone who has Verizon and ends up being harassed because it is so stressful.

Yeah it sounds like Verizon did a good job with this. Also, very good move for you to go to the police. I know from experience that is the only way some people will stop that kind of behavior. Glad it worked out for you and thanks for the info.

Sort of on the same topic, if anyone ever does want to change their number due to receiving harrassing / unwanted phone calls, Verizon will waive the "service fee" if you tell them that's the reason you're having it changed.

    Verizon is excellent about this.

I had Verizon for a couple of years. I want international service and so GSM is a better option for me however when I was with Verizon some drug crazed nut wouldn't stop texting me. It was a new number for me and this nut kept texting me looking for his ex girlfriend. I kept explaining to him that I had no idea who or where his ex gf was. I called Verizon and they put a complete block on his number for me.

Most other carriers would require a court order and an act of Congress to do anything similar.

I was always very impressed with Verizon over how they helped me with that problem.

The person kinda don't know that they are bothering me but I don't want any part of it so I am gonna try the vtext thing w/ anouther vzw number when I get home and see if that fixes it. Ill let u guys know but its nice to know vzw will do this for u.
