    Today Verizon Wireless announced a larger footprint for its Navigator service. VZ Navigator Global will provide GPS-based, turn-by-turn directions in Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.K. It will initially be available on the BlackBerry 9530 Storm, which can roam onto GSM networks when overseas. Verizon said the service will become available to more handsets and in more countries over time. VZ Navigator Global costs $20 per month.

    On April 30, Verizon Wireless will launch VZ Navigator Global, a new application that adds international VZ Navigator capabilities to the current domestic functions.

    VZ Navigator Global requires a device that supports simultaneous GPS and GSM usage; therefore, at launch it will be available only on the BlackBerry Storm.

    Available while roaming internationally in supported destinations:
    Spoken turn-by-turn directions
    Auto-rerouting if you miss a turn
    Local search for businesses and attractions
    Country-specific formatting for address entry, including entry in English or in a foreign spelling for major cities
    Place Messaging, Web site sync and Spanish language option

    Available while roaming internationally in some of the destinations:
    Traffic integration
    Local weather forecasts
    Movies and events

    Available for use in the US only:
    Gas price finder
    Enhanced 3D driving maps
    Follow Me Map

    Worry less about trying to read road signs and maps in foreign languages.
    Judge distances in miles instead of by road signs in kilometers.
    Hear directions in English or Spanish.
    Spend less than renting a GPS device for international use.

    Pricing Details
    A $19.99 monthly subscription price includes domestic and international functionality.
    An unlimited or Pay-Per-Use global email and data feature is required.
