Today Verizon Wireless announced a lot of new stuff. One of the major thing is the $39.99 tethering/aircard plan now has 250MB instead of 50MB and $.10/mb overage. That's five times more for the same price.

Now the $59.99 is still 5GB but the overage rate was changed to $.05/mb instead of $.25/mb. You need to call up and change to this plan, the overage rates do not change automatically.

    Enjoy.

Where do you see that in the prior posts?

Now if we can get the 5g price down, that would be nice

Depending on the plan you have the price of tethering is whatever it takes to get to the aircard price of 60 a month. So now if I'm paying 30 all I would need is $10 add on to make it to the $40 250MB plan. Or do I have all this wrong?

IT is wrong. Tethering prices stay the same. They are based off your BIS or BES plan. Both are based on matching the GB aircard/modem plan at 59.99

The $39.99 tethering plan is an aircard only plan.

Tethering should not have been mentioned in the OP.

Why not? The $59.99 plan is a tethering or aircard plan. The overage rate changes apply to both tethering and aircards.

Tethering at 59.99 is for a regular type phone like the voyager or EnV. I do not recall a reduction on overages for tethering being mentioned. I may have missed this, but will check tomorrow

It includes overage reductions for the PDA type Tethering plans ($30/$15) ones. Not just aircards.

I have a question I don't think anyone has asked yet. If wifi is so great, what do these people want tethering for?

They want freaking free tethering for their laptop but cry that their phone didn't come with wifi.

The whiners should just save their bucks and use wifi on their laptops, right???

wifi and tethering serve two separate purposes...wifi is for when you're near an internet source. tethering is to create an internet source where one didn't exist previously...using the data network to create said internet source.

they're interchangable, sort of. wifi is rather faster, but tethering has no "range" outside of the network coverage.

ROFLMTO! That is a very good point - I wonder how many are the same people, wanting free tethering AND WiFi capabilities.

I think he knows the difference, since he has laptops and cellphones.

I do see his point, what with all the recent Tetherberry uproar and the people claiming they should be able to do what they want with their phone data connection.

Whatever. I have no problem paying for my Verizon service. Tethering and wifi are 2 different things. If there is no cellular signal then no tethering, thats when I would want wifi.

I dunno why we have to get the wifi thing involved in about every thread.

I think I'll just find a way to make every pointless thread about wifi from now on. Every wifi discussion quickly spirals into personal insults and lulz which are just as productive as the 8952th thread wanting to start a class action.
