No Detroit/MI love at all, as usual. Which is why I don't care when they announce such things.

I'll never buy a 4G phone but I will definetely be getting a datacard if it's not too expensive.

I was thinking that too... my USB broadband modem is due for the "new every 2" upgrade, so maybe I'll keep it for a few months (still works fine) and get the new one when the new service is available.

I have not heard prices but I think the 4G coverage will start Verizons Tiered pricing system.

Hopefully by January they'll have a time frame for coming here, I need a new phone.

Go to Verizon's website (Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, 3G Smartphones, the Best Cell Phone Service - Verizon Wireless) and click on the 4G teaser. You can put in an address and zip to see if you're covered.

For example, "New York City" is listed, but by trying zip codes, LTE covers at least as far north as White Plains and into Greenwich. I could only imagine Jersey is pretty well covered in the north, but I haven't tried many Jersey zip codes.
