With tethering, your total monthly would be $59.99...they add the difference to the $44.99 plan or the $29.99 plan to equal $59.99...

HOw long ago did you know about the 29.99 plan?
I think I heard about it towards the end of last year and since I have a discount through my employer, assumed (yes I know what happens when you assume) that I had it. But I just verified recently after reading this thread...

I added the BBA (tethering feature) and the CSR did take that $29.99 up to $44.99 but then quoted me another $15.00/mo for the "tethering"???
    What's up with that?
Same thing for me. Once I don't need this feature, I am changing my plan back to the cheaper one.

In order to have tethering, your total data package must add up to $59.99.

If you have the $29.99 personal plan, you're going to be adding $30 onto your plan.

If you have the $44.99 plan, which includes access to an enterprise server, you will have $15.00 added to your plan.

Why $59.99? That's the price of the access plan to have a wireless card.

Hope this helped. There are plenty of other threads on this topic as well.

I have been on a family share plan with regular phones, I have a Razr through Verizon. I purchased a Blackberry 8830 from a private party and I should be receiving it tomorrow or Tuesday. I call Verizon about changing my phone to the Blackberry and they told me I had to take the 45.99 a month additional cost to switch to the Blackberry. From this discussion it sounds like I should be able to get the 29.99 plan, is that correct? I am new to the Blackberry world and I really hope I can get the 29.99 plan!

Here is the deal...and yes I work for VZW. The 29.99 is unlimited on the bb. 44.99 if you need BES. 24.99 is 10 meg with BES. The only thing that is limited to the 5 gig is the teathering or broadband access on your computer.

    Hi,

Just got my first blackberry, loving it so far.

Anyway I have searched the forums but just want to confirm because i am paranoid...

When I activated the phone, the vzw rep told me the $29.99 plan was for 10 MB. I didnt know differently and assumed I could change it later so I just said okay and left.

But I have been reading that the $29.99 plan is for unlimited data now. Is this correct, and does that mean there is no more 10MB plan, or what?

On my account page, it says I have the feature: EMAIL & WEB FOR BLACKBERRY. There is no mention of a 10MB plan, as I read (in a post from months ago) showed up on someone elses. So is this is unlimited?

On the add features page i have the option of adding: BLACKBERRY 10MB W/BROADBAND $24.99/month and BLACKBERRY UNLIMITED BBA $44.99/month. I believe the unlimited BBA is for broadband or something else that i dont need. Is the $24.99 just a 10MB data plan?

Anyway it seems to me that this is a stupid question, but I just want to make sure because of what the rep told me. I was disappointed to see that youtube and viigo need unlimited data plans, thinking I didnt have that, so this would be great news.

    Thanks
I just dealt with this same issue.... the $44.99 is for BES only, if your paying this using BIS they're overcharging you. The $29.95 is fine for anyone using BIS... Verizon told me it was unlimited provided your not using it for tethering...

No? From my experiences with VZW it is separate. It won't even work until you add the tethering feature to your plan

I can't believe I've been paying $44.99 since last February when I could have been paying $29.99 (from what I've read hear starting last May)! I went to switch it on the vzw site, and I didn't appear to have any options about switching my data plan other than to remove it. Seeing as it told me I could review my changes before finalizing, I deleted the $44.99 plan, and a message came up after I hit next that said I was required to have a data plan with a BB, and I could choose the $29.99 plan! Yay!
I just attempted this, but I didn't get the option to re-add the $29.99 Unlimted Data plan. I assume I'll just have to call, correct?

Also, if I switch to the $29.99 BIS Unlimited...will I still be able to activate my work email through standard email set-up while I'm on the road? This would not require BES service would it?

VCast is a feature extended to dumbphones in an attempt to give them some added functionality. It is not available on BlackBerry.

The 29.99 is unlimted web and e-mail. bb's dont need v-cast...IF your work has a BES then you will need a 44.99 plan or you can not get your work e-mail from the road...

The first rep was clueless, when my upgrade went into affect in May I had already started looking at the data plans and the only one they offered was the $45 one...when I did the upgrade a few weeks ago I had the option of either one. you would think that since you have a data plan they would ask you if you wanted to change and give you the option
The options may vary by market area and may have been available earlier in some areas. I live near Atlanta and I was offered the $29.99 unlimited BB data rate since Feb. 1, 2008 when I first got my Pearl. At same time, I was offered the option to add the tethering for an additional $15.00 per month for a total of $44.99.

I thought this was a bargain as I was moving from a Treo and was paying $44.99 a month for unlimited data only with no tethering.

Is using BBM free when I have the VZW 29.99 plan?

Or am I in a world of trouble when I get my bill?

I tried PMing you, and I need 9 more, well 8 now.

Thank you so much for answering that question.

I had called 611 and the guy said "All those emails are covered". I asked him about BBM, and got the same answer. Which kind of worried until I got a definite answer from you.

    Thank you again!

I am confused now, so why am I paying $44.95? I have unlimited. So your saying I should only be paying $29.95?

If you need BES 44.95, BIS is 29.95
