I've finally convinced my sister to move to Verizon. She upgraded her phone, so she has an Alltel-branded Pearl 8130 that she has no use for.

My question is, I'm going to sell it for her I guess. I'm assuming that either existing Alltel customers, or Alltel customers that transitioned to Verizon are the only ones that can use the phone.

Also can it be "unlocked" for any other uses? I'd like to list it correctly. Any input is appreciated.

Only people who are currently on Alltel or are still on an Alltel plan on Verizon can use the device.

Someone who was on Alltel and transitioned to Verizon and CHANGED to a Verizon plan cannot use the device.

It cannot be "unlocked". And other CDMA carriers typically will not allow devices from a different carrier to be activated on their network.

Thanks much. I am just going to list it as a used Alltel blackberry...and go with that.

It can be used on Metro PCS though ? A lot of CDMA phones get unlocked/flashed to Metro.
