VZW has a new updated PRL#!
    Updated PRL# from 51495 to 51567!
Goto your dial screen, dial *228, then hit option #2, let it update, then to see if your PRL# has been updated, go back to your dial screen and dial #HELP*, then scroll down till you see your updated PRL#!

    Thnx, Tripster

You are correct, which is odd I checked the PRL database this morning and it still says 51495 so they must not have updated the PRL list yet.

For majority of people in the US the PRL does not matter anymore. Unless you live in an extended network area or are travelling out of the country it will not change anything.

Where do these fallacies come from?

PRL doesn't affect GSM operation - and what if you travel to an extended area?

Well over half of all cell customers in the US find themselves in an extended or roaming area multiple times per year. They may or may not live there, but they might need to use that extended area.

I guess some BGR type, living in his parents' basement in the middle of Chicago said PRLs don't matter, so every wannabe mobile phone expert runs with it.

But hey - let's turn it around for just a moment - even if you are correct & PRL programming doesn't matter, what harm is there in having the latest version?

If it didn't matter, CDMA carriers could save a huge amount of money in network time & bandwidth in just doing away with them.

I don't disagree with Twins' post. But I have to admit, does a PRL update **REALLY** merit a new post? If it matters that much to you, set a calendar reminder, do a *228 option 2, and congrats, you'll pull a USCC tower instead of a sprint tower.

I agree - I update mine per the calendar, needed or not - but it is a fun diversion with the occasional new PRL discovery. .

As an aside, we don't pull many Sprint towers - 1900MHz, you know.
