Did anybody else get the new update from Verizon? I hooked my 8330 to the desk top manager to do a backup today & bam there was 4.5.0.138 from Verizon. Just checking to see if anybody else got it?

Who knows? Try it out. No news yet of exactly what the upgrade does for the phone.

I just got an email from BB a couple minutes ago. It's crazy because I had just loging on to CrackBerry about 20 minutes earlier to see if there were any new OS's available for the 8330.

Now I can't wait to get out of work and get home!!!!

NOthing really this is just VZW pushing it as an approved upgrade... like if VZW was to come out and say they approved .151 on the storm...

Aaaaand how long as dm 5.0 been out? I am surprised you have not done this before!

As far as the update not being a big deal, well maybe it isnt. But why not just let us enjoy our trivial update. (when reading the forums here and else where .160 as not working well on ALL vzw curves so some of us opted-out of taking the risk)

I was just avoiding it for a bit because of problems people had with 160. I know one has nothing to do with the other but just waited it out....

Started the 5.0 install and its taking forever....

That is why I did not update to .160 or anything else (besides being "new" to this os lol)

Im still excited to have an update period after over two years of non-existent updates on my old device lol.

Sorry to hear that 5.0 is taking up so much time. I dont recall it taking very long actually.

First, I thought I read DM 5.0 was for the newer devices and was problematic with the 8330. If I'm wrong...great! Next, it is my understanding that .131 has the better "radio" than .138. I found .160 to be a little zippier than any OS on my Alltel phone but read negative things about using it on VZW.

The BlackBerry Curve 8330 update resolves the
    following issues:
 Email received by the mail application with a registered attachment
handler (such as RSA Token) no longer loses attachments.
 The RSS rendering engine no longer impacts the Repligo application
when used as an embedded screen.
 Third-party headsets were sometimes not detected correctly by the
device when used on AUX-capable car stereo systems. This has
    been corrected.
 When answering a call, the BlackBerry sometimes triggered a short,
loud noise on the receiving end. This has been corrected.

Just finished up the update myself. Installed using latest version of DM 5.0, only glitch I had, was right before it restored my backup, it lost connection to device. So after it timed out, it gave me path to restore it manually. All looks fine, did have to re-send my service books from BIS to regain browser and some of internet access. Does seem alot quicker, least so far.

Installed the file from verizon's website which was both the DM5.0 and the updated firmware....lost all my third party registration codes and data....wish you could restore certain files from a backup and not the entire backup itself.

It took a while to access pictures.
I think the big difference is the trackball seems more responsive.

But you didn't have to re-install all the third party apps right? That is a plus, though storing on the storage card would be better. When ever I add music or hard reset media take awhile even befor this update.

I agree surface wise track ball is more responsive
