    Hi All,

Just had a quick question: I am traveling to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic on Friday for a week. I have a Tour and I am assuming it will work over there, however I am looking to get the best rates. I called the VZW global travelers program and they told me that I can get unlimited data for about 15 bucks, but that there is no unlimited voice plan (i.e you have to pay the roaming charge of 2 bucks per minute). Does this seem right? If there is no good voice plan to sign up with, does anyone know of a good VOIP solution so I can make voice calls over the data network? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

If you get the phone unlocked, you can use a local pre-paid SIM for calls while you are there. However, you will not get data from Verizon (or at all) if you choose this route.

    Thanks for your response

I think data is a necessity for me so that will probably not be an option. Does anyone know of any VOIP apps I can use to make calls over the data network and avoid the roaming charges? Thanks!
