I have had my pearl for 2 years and it it time for something new. So, I need help deciding. Do I stuck with blackberry or switch to another smart phone (droid? Palm?) do I wait to see if verizon will get the iPhone? If I do stick with blackberry, which model do I get? I do not need anything fancy-access to my email and outlook calendar, web for facebook, eBay and twitter and a few fun games. I would not mind a full keyboard as opposed to the 20key keypad (my thumb muscles get tired)
    So- suggestions?
Also, I saw a couple of red 8830s on eBaywould that be a good option?-

Violet Curve2 8530, wifi, more memory, good media, 5.0 OS, I think this is the phone for you.

I would stay away from Palm...there isn't a ton of activities in regards to apps and all that. You do get free mobile hotspot though.

I have had all Verizon's BlackBerries and just got a Devoid Incredible and love it. The browser is super fast. It does exchange email and calendar syncing just fine. If you have to have a hard keyboard there is also the Motorola Droid.

In regards to the iPhone coming to Verizon...there are new rumors from analysts that ATT have renewed their exclusivity through the enormity 2010.

How about the curve 8330? I can get a red one on eBay. Is the curve2 that much better? A red BB would be fun but not if it doesn't work as well as it should.

She's on Telus, she can't use a VzW phone on that network can she?

No. VZW phones would not be allowed to be used on Telus. She needs to get a Telus branded phone.

That's what I thought. Because everyone here is recommending VzW phones...maybe because shes asking for phone suggestions in the wrong carrier forum.

Ok. You will need to change your profile. It shows that your carrier is Telus.

The only big issue is the Curve 8338 is outdated technology. The Curve 2 has more memory, wifi, an optical track pad... It all depends on how much money you want to spend as well. If money isn't an issue, go with the Curve 2.

But isn't the red 8330 a Sprint model? Which means she wouldn't be able to activate it on VZW?

I thought the only VZW-branded 8330s were the silver and pink ones.

Any phone that you buy from vzw you have thirty days to try it. You can return it if you are not happy with it

VzW had the 8830 in red, maybe that's what she saw.

Verizon has the 8330 in silver or pink for $9.99 and the 8530 in black or violet is $29.99 on their website right now. With that price different, I'd go with the 8530. Definitely don't get the 9630 Tour, as the 9650 is about to be released.
