    If you got an aircard, you would have to activate a new line of service. With tethering you will not just add the feature to your current plan. Tethering speeds are slower but at least you won't have to start another contract.

    Yes, tethering technically is slower, but not much. I work in the Columbus/New Albany area frequently and BB tethering has actually worked better than my Verizon aircard, especially downtown...though I'm not sure why.

    As far as internet browsing there probably won't be a very big difference when you are in an EVDO area. But when it comes to downloading if downloading music or any large files, the aircard trumps tethering anyday in the same area.
