I am currently an AT&T customer, but plan on switching to Verizon at the beginning of April when I can hopefully get the Z10. I was looking online at the plans on the Verizon site and I was disappointed to see that my monthly rate would approximately be $100 for one phone with the mobile share everything plan (2 GB for $60, $40 smartphone fee). Is there any way I would be able to get a regular plan like the ones that were previously offered, since I only have one line? As a college student (who is determined to get the Z10 at all costs ) I need an affordable monthly rate that will hopefully be less than the $100 shared plan, that will also give me all the data and unlimited messaging that I need. If I'm going to be stuck paying over $100, then I might as well stick with my crappy AT&T service and just get the Z10 with an upgrade there.

The old unlimited call+text plan for 1 line is 89.99. Add 30 for 2gb of data and you're up at 119.99

The lowest plan is 59.99 for 450 minutes w/ unlimited texting. Add 30 for 2gb of data and you get 89.99...or $10 less than unlimited calling and texting with the same amount of data

New customers can't get the old plans anymore, can they?

Unfortunately, new customer can't get on the old pricing structure. If possible, I would look into sharing the lines with your family. If you do it that way (and share the costs), the Verizon plans are very affordable. I've been doing a 5 line share for years and it's been amazing.

But isn't there an extra fee for each phone, especially if it's a smart phone? Doesn't that make the price go up even more?

For the best answer call VZW they will tell you what you can get for how much, anything else is just conjecture.

The only way I can deal with the prices at Verizon is to split it four ways. $40 per smartphone and 4GB of shared data for $70 plus taxes and fees equals out to be around $65 per line. This is ideal for people who use wifi at home and work.

Also consider any employer discounts which would only apply to the Account Access charge but not the per line phone charge, but still can warrant additional savings.

You can check eligibility here by entering your work email and they'll email a link that is live for I believe 48-72 hours. It'll show discounts to plan and to accessories (if your company has discount on accessories) - Verizon Wireless Employer Discounts: Register | Verizon Wireless

You can get the single like 450, 900 or unlimited minutes plans (different from share everything unlimited). At a corporate store they can add to the "old single line" plans. Not online or at 3rd party retailer tho.
