i just bought a verizon curve and made a call to CS to have my discount applied, and the call transferred to an indian call center. not just an immigrant agent, but the connection tone and everything signified an off-shore redirect.

has everyone except t-mobile started off-shoring their call centers? this happened to me with sprint and AT&T also.

i dont have anything against india or other countries, but if i call in for support, i would prefer to get someone who is at least within our borders who has first-hand knowledge of my concerns and can make decisions based on actual experience than off of a fault-tree.

this experience has been a letdown from the get-go. compared side by side with my t-mobile blackberry curve, the verizon curve's screen has a significant yellowish tint to it, and upgrading the OS didnt help, along with the sound from the speakerphone being very tinny, and there's a background hiss during all calls.

for the hardware concerns, i ended up taking it to a local store, mainly to apply my discount in person, but had them compare it side by side with my tmobile curve and a new one they had in stock and it seems all the verizon curves have a very yellow screen.

i am attempting the switch to support a company that supports our country's veterans and because i was told that verizon is tops in my area for reception. so far, i've discovered that the discount only applies to my calling plan and not to my additional services (like BIS and text messaging plan), no one is able to tell me my exact discount and they said i should just wait until my first bill arrives to find out, and the reception isnt much better than my tmobile phone in most places around my city... although i get better reception within the bowels of large casinos.

in the end, it just seems that it wasnt all i was hoping for.

just wanted to voice these concerns to see if others have the same issues and that i should have expected these things or if i got hoodwinked.

Intresting - all VZW call centers are in the US. Does not mean that we do not have folks that might be from other countires. Maybe they had a bad headset or phone on their desk. maybe a bad connection

If there is one company I don't mind calling it's Verizon. The reps are always nice and are always ready to help with my problems.

I live about 10 miles from a Verizon Call center in Ohio. And each time I call, it goes to that call center.

All Verizon Wireless call centres are indeed located in the US.

That being said, the issues you have mentioned are well-known and documented problems for the Verizon Curve. I personally have not had a single issue with a yellow tint to my screen, background noise, etc. You may have received a dud. I would take it back to the store and get a new device, if I were you.

My VZW8330 also lacks a yellowish tint or tinny sound, but Jenay is correct - you're likely to have gotten a faulty unit. You should be able to take it back to the store and get it replaced.

when you call in to the call center it tries to route you to the nearest call center before attempting other call centers.

yeah, i'm taking it back, but i'm cancelling.

the whole process has been fudged from the start, beginning with the salesperson lying to me about the discount.

that's what pisses me off more than anything.

    must be your upper lip.

i'm simply asking if it's the case since i got redirected overseas and thought it was really odd because it was my understanding that the call centers were all US based.

All VZW call centers are in the US. You may have gotten a tech who is foreign or of foreign decent, but if you were on the line with a VZW tech or rep, you were talking to someone who was physically sitting in the United States of America.

I have never called overseas or paid much attention to how the ringtone sounds. How much different does it sound?

I agree 100%!!! Nothing is more frustrating than to call up CS (for anything) and have someone on the other end of the line that can hardly understand english and nearly impossible to understand their accent. Aside from the language barrier they simply do not understand or do not know how to answer your questions!!! I have actually ended calls by hanging up out of frustration only to call back and again be connected to the same CS! I really hope that Verizon does not (if they havent already) begin outsourcing their call center work to other countries...

That would p*ss me off too, to be totally honest. I wouldn't necessarily cancel just yet, but I would surely hint around to the fact that you are considering that avenue. Verizon will generally cave when faced with a customer angry to the point of contract termination. I would take the device back, and also speak to a manager about the way you were treated over the phone. I had a bad rep a couple weeks ago that was not only rude, but hung up on me. I called back and, although it took me about an hour to escalate to a higher-up supervisor, I was awarded a $45 credit to my account just for the whole experience. I'm not saying that you are after a credit of any sort, but they will accomodate you when they know they are in the wrong.
