I can not seem to connect to the 3g network verizon boasts about. i try time and again to connect to it via mobile network options, but the darn thing will not connect to it. I can only connect to the 1xev.
Can any one help me and my poor little blackbery storm that just want the 3g network?

That is 3G - in fact, it is 2-4X faster than the minimum for 3G rated speeds.

3G is just a minimum speed. The entire VZW network is capable of speeds greater than 3G performance.

When you're on 1XEV, you have good signal and a speed that is much faster than AT&T or T-Mobile 3G speeds.

Your Storm is 3G capable on CDMA or GSM networks. See my edit on the first reply.

Verizon's network is 3G. When you connect with 1XEV - you are connected with 3G. You are not going to see the letters 3G anywhere on the display.

Because you have to be on a GSM ( Outside the US ) to see 3G. Within the US, on Verizon CDMA as stated above, unlocked Storm on GSM within the US, EDGE only.

Yes, but 1xRTT is still the voice side of 3G. The RTT in 1xRTT stands for Radio Transmission Technology and is part of the CDMA-2000 protocol. The 1x refers to 1x the number of 1.25MHz channels CDMA-2000 1xRTT is a 3G wireless technology based on the CDMA platform..
