Is there a way to activate a non-U.S. CDMA phone on the Verizon network assuming I have a Verizon account?

The phone itself is not one offered or supported by Verizon.

It's pretty much impossible to get ANY non-supported CDMA phone onto VZW, even phones from other North American CDMA providers such as Sprint. I know that that there are grey-market importers that change the ESN (serial number) on their imported phones so that it looks like a supported model, but that is plain illegal under U.S. law and cannot be discussed on this forum. Usually, non-North American CDMA phones don't support required functionality such as GPS for e911, so they are non-starters regardless of VZW's policy.

Funny thing Verizon was touting all this openness about a year ago.

Supposedly you will be able to when 4G drops for VZW.

It seems as though the device will still have to be certified for the LTE network, but it doesn't have to be a device Verizon sells in their stores. I don't think, at least in the short-term, you'll be able to bring *any* device to Verizon's LTE and pop in their SIM.

All you have to do is send the device in for certification.
