Also be aware that Verizon is charging you (1) SMS txt for each incoming and outgoing message you send from that app.

You may have opened a can of worms asking that heh. There is most definitely a better app for multi-network IM if you have a data plan. The majority of people here like JiveTalk. A few others like WebMessenger.

God forbid someone charges, a reasonable price at that, for a program that works very well. Get over it. You bought a BlackBerry and you can afford the data plan that goes along with it and you did this all on Verizons traditionally more expensive network.

You have unlimited texts so stay with your MobileIM, then.

Right... you have a BlackBerry plan with unlimited texts for $40? I don't see how that is possible but whatever. Does Verizon even offer unlimited texts? The only option I see is 5000 for $20 bucks or something. That's not the point of this anyway.

JiveTalk allows you to connect to AIM, Yahoo, Gtalk, MSN, ICQ, Jabber, and MySpace IM. And, it doesn't use SMS like Verizons MobileIM app. JiveTalk is only like $20 or $30 bucks. For me and many others, it's worth it to pay for that rather than use Verizons MobileIM and pay them more money for more texts.

That's not what you posted about anyway. Sorry for throwing your thread off topic.

Sucky JiveTalk connects through Jive's (Bee) proxy servers. I would rather find a program that does direct TCP connections to the chat servers rather then have a 3rd party logging my IM's. F dat!

Now that is a good argument against using JiveTalk.
