So anyone can buy a phone and make themselves appear to be worth the data plan that they're too cheap to pay for.

It's all an "image" or fad for most. An Env Touch is just too childish in their eyes.
You know before the Tour and Storm some folks thought that Rim built serviceable devices. Maybe that's all they wanted. Apparently AT&T (maybe in the past) allowed those looking for IMAGE to get a BB without data. It was not unheard of.............

You are entitled to your opinions and you may freely express them. And maybe the FCC will check on "packages" of minutes. I'm sure you want drug companies to foist whatever they want on the public - god forbid someone like "govmint" check up on them.
The government cannot even manage itself, much less cell phone companies and such. It's called a free market (for now).

The more the government gets involved in the private sector the more we head towards socialism.

Perhaps the government should go demand that clothing manufacturers lower their prices and offer Wal-Mart pricing, because I want to wear a shirt that says "Polo"...

If you insist on getting the free Tour, I'd love to buy it from you; at a good price of course

Socialism - government owns the companies & runs everything

Fascism - Companies are mostly not owned by the government, but the government tells them what to so, how to operate, what to sell & how much to pay.

    We have attained Fascism.

The FCC ordering prices or policies outside of the most basic of their original charter - allocation of radio frequencies - is a fascist principle that is wrong & we should not tolerate it in any way, shape or form.

If VZW wants to require data & Apple only wants their phones on AT&T, the FCC should have zero say in the matter - it should be up to consumers to decide who & where they spend their money.

I keep seeing people say that the EnV touch is childish and I don't get it. It is a very capable phone for the average user. It isn't a BB but it still works well. So what if a bunch of kids have them too. Actually that proves to me how capable they are because kids today are way more tech savvy then when I was growing up. They know more about electronics then some adults and won't use junk no matter how "cool" it is. My sister, who is an adult as well, has a EnV touch and I think it is rather nice.

I never considered my BB to be an image thing. I don't feel special because I have one. I got it because it did what I wanted it to do and nothing else at the time did. If you want a phone for "image" purposes drop the cash for a designer phone or something like that. Most don't require data.

Its fashion vs function. BB's are shiny nice expensive devices. I agree that the EnV3 is a great device my dad and younger brother both recently upgraded and its perfect for their needs.
