CSR's start at around $15/hr. Vzw offers amazing benefits, tons of paid time off, discounts on their services, unlimited OT, etc. My mum has worked for them for 6 years and loves it.

Do you know what the requirements to work at VZW are?

They do background checks and do look for at least a year of CS experience. If you don't have that, you can BS a little bit about your experience.

I know you apply online, then you do a telephone interview. If they like you, they will have you come in for a series of in person interviews, which does include testing. Once hired, you cannot be late for or miss a single day of training (6-8wks I believe) or they will term you.

Its a bit strict, but hey - worth it.

$15/hour may be a regional thing due to higher cost of living. A CSR in my district starts around $12.50 to $13 per hour.

is it higher in the NYC area? $15 an hour is not very high here in comparison.

Sometimes I wish I could do a career change but I wouldn't be able to live on anything under $25 an hour

thats enough to get me to jump ship and get into the wireless field. However, I'm pretty sure the starting grunt is not going to start at that rate. If your entering this field, whats the basic grunt technician making on average?

in new york city of course...

They are still hiring, as far as managers. Most are hired from within the company. It's a great career.

As long as you have previous sales experience you would be looking at starting as a sales rep. Thats what I would recommend, you will still make what most assistant managers are making depending on your location. And no, no unions thank god.

I don't think the wireless side is unionized but I did get a union discount on my bill.

A good sales rep can make between 70k and 100K, but not usually starting out....they need to build their customer base and get those referrals...plus they need to know there stuff....that's also base + commission.

Avg sales rep in my area is probably around 40k.
