Do they have this for other phones? (android/iphone)

How come my old z10 got the update even though it is on Wi-Fi with no sim and no mobile connection on?

Should we be concerned that Verizon can do this?

Why would Verizon make this mandatory ?

Why it's mandatory is probably due to the much-discussed California killswitch law, but seriously, getting the userbase off of 10.methuselah is quite welcomed.

Anyway, Verizon probably has a list of IMEIs/PINs/some other identifier for all of the BlackBerry devices that it has provisioned. I assume they went through the list, triggered an update check and pointed it towards 10.3.2.858.

I don't disagree. I think forcing the update will stop a lot of the dumb questions related to people still running old 10.xxx (new 10.3.2 feature... recognizing xxx as Web address?!). However, I find it really interesting that they managed to push it to something not on their network. Like your phone still ties to Verizon even if you are not using it at all with them. Also, slightly concerning because makes me wonder what else they can push.

Believe me, no update has ever stopped stupid questions.

My Z30 is only being used on wifi right now and it is currently downloading the update. That phone isn't activated on my account right now. My Q10 just got the update this morning and I'm still getting used to how different things look. I had read some negative things about the update and wasn't even worried about it but kept getting the messages that it is "mandatory". The part I didn't like was having to free up 2gb on each device to let it go through. Pain in the ****. I hope it's worth it

Why exactly would you say it is Verizon pushing this update, if you're not even getting it through mobile data?

It is being pushed through Verizon. I have two BB10 phones. One I always have activated and the other is on wifi. I always get the new software updates on both phones at the exact same time.

I'm happy it hasn't been forced to my Z30. It showed up in Link though.

I actually have no idea if it is Verizon or not. I am just assuming it is since I have not heard about it on other networks.

All Verizon does is give the green light to let BlackBerry make the update available.

Just go to Settings->Software Updates->Check for Updates.

Then the update will show up and you can't stop it.

AT&T may have done this as well.
