I'm thinking of switching from AT&T to Verizon because they seem to have great service and my AT&T is in a dead zone at my college where as verizon is not.
So, I have brand new credit (I'm 18 and this would be the first thing I'd have gotten in my name)
So im wondering if anyone knows what the deposit would be for someone with new credit.

    TIA

Why not call Verizon and find out? I'm not being an ***, but they are really the ones to give you proper info on this.

Well, that's very true. But I just thought maybe someone on here may have known and would save me a phone call

On my first 2 phones they wanted $200.00 per phone, and that was 8 years ago. After a year they mailed me a check for $210.00. My last 3 lines, they did not ask for a deposit. 8 years ago I had okay credit. Not great, but not bad

JSR is really correct on this. It is all based soley on credit scores. Do keep in mind that a deposit will be credited back to your account after 12 months of good payment history. Also I am am 99% percent sure there is a small amount of interest as well. It is like a small savings in the long run.

Worst case scenario, I think is $400 but don't quote me on that. You are Better off with no credit than bad credit in any case.

Heck when I first got Verizon I had crappy credit (honestly) I went to sprint they wanted $250, nextel wanted $175, verizon wanted nothing. Yet I did try out the others I still got one line under verizon to talk with family (since they were all on VZW). I was supprised at not having to pay a deposit.

I had a $0 deposit on my cell phone, for up to 5 lines, when I was your age ... 3 years ago.

    max deposit will be $400.

If you can swing it, do it, good way to build credit and you get your deposit back provided you have no recurring past due balance on your account. I think they give back interest as well.

Yeah, I believe interest is there too. That's how AT&T does it, too. Also, make sure not to get non-pay suspensions.

the deposit ranges from 0-400 per line of service. assuming you have to put down a deposit, if you make your payments on time for the first 12 months, on the 13th month of service you can either:

    A) have us cut you a check for the deposit+interest that has accrued on it

    or

    B) have the deposit amount applied to your account.

however, if you miss a payment within that first 12 months, the cycle starts over.

i wish i knew exactly how the credit checks worked as far as what was looked into

its funny seeing an 18 y/o fresh out of HS come in with 0 dp for 5 lines, but a older man with a job and what not has a 400 dp on 5 lines lol. i dun get it

didnt have to do the deposit thing with verizon, but know of a few people who were able to sign up with verizon when sprint/nextel asked them for 200 deposit
