My 1-year contract on VZ is almost up. Will I be able to renew my contract and get a new phone like the 9550 for $200 (or whatever it'll be on contract)? Or do I have to wait another year before I qualify for a new phone discount?

When your contract is up you should be eligible for either 1 yr or 2 yr pricing, 2 yr of course being more of a discount. Also VZW normally lets you upgrade q couple months early. So for a 1 year plan usually you are eligible to upgrade on month 10 of 12, 2 year plan is month 20 of 24 ifI remember right. If you are signed up for myverizon online log into your account and check out your upgrade status

If you signed a 1yr originally, yes you will be eligible for the 2yr pricing. There will be no NE2 credit though but you will get the promotional price.

You can renew with no problem. Which phone did you have in mind?

That is an extremely uneducated answer. You need to know all the facts about when his contract is up and whatnot to say that.

Why don't you call up customer service or walk into a store? No one here can look at your account.

Verizon will let you renew your contract a few months before it expires. That's why you can get the NE2 deal when you're only 20 months into a 24 month contract.

Sign up for online account access and all the upgrade info you need will be available to you. That's the best way to find out exactly what your eligibility is and you don't have to leave your home or call on the phone.

You can get new contract pricing when you sign a new contract. Pricing will depend on the contract. As mentioned before, no NE2 discount, as you didn't have a qualifying contract.

Someone should make a sticky of all upgrade policy specifics for discussion rather than having these same threads repeated.

Upgrade policies seem to change with the winds. Customer support is always the best place to check for a clear/quick answer.

Very true and that would be a good thing to include in the Sticky -- Call Customer Service.
