How much does it affect battery life to have Bluetooth on but not connected to anything?

More than it being off. There really is no definitive way to measure it since there are so many other factors.

It really should be minimal, Jim - nothing you'd really notice.

Now if you are around BT devices not paired to your phone, there could be more of an effect. Turn off all connections & detection except for the BT devices you use.

I know I forget to turn mine off when I'm not in my car, and my battery life is noticably lower when its on all day. I dont have a deffinative amount but I can tell a difference.
