My dad's friend gave him a Curve he didn't need anymore. My dad wants to use the phone without the Blackberry plan features and doesn't want to pay the $30 or so a month for a Blackberry plan. Is there any way for him to use the phone on Verizon without the plan?

Not gonna happen. Even most dumbphones are now requiring data plans.

No carrier allows BBs to be used. I believe AT&T was the last to hop on board. My friend had the Bold 9000 which he used without data. But if he was to reactivate it now on his account, data would be forced. So no.

Please, please, please, fellow members, no it's like driving a Ferreri without wheels or whatever lol.
