I still have Google, Live Search, Wikipedia, and Dictionary.com (internet browser).

    No Bing icon, either.

I only have the option for Bing. I hate having choices taken away. I hope they fix this soon.

It is Verizon because they are the ones who push out their services books. Just like it is Verizon who pushes out all those stupid apps. There are stupid CS reps out there who dont know what they are talking about. But there are solutions to this problem... I actually havent got the push yet but I am gonna look through my service books

I still have these options as well. No Bing on my browser yet. I'm running .328 on my Storm 1. I do have Bing installed as an app just to try it out though. Maybe if you have the Bing app installed you are spared the pushed search on your browser? Doubtful but you never know.

I went a few days with the .428 leak and had all of the choices, looked at it today, and it is Bing only...So Microsoft is trying to gain another market by forcing users onto their software by taking their choice away...welcome to UMSR - United Microsoft Socialist Republic...

I wonder what/if any MS associates/reps are thinking if they come across this thread lol.

"I wonder if they would complain if Google was the only search provider pushed to their phone"

My answer is no..i wouldn't, and i guaruntee 98% of the people in this thread wouldn't either.

I am 100% for the "CarrierX shouldn't push crap to my phone without the consent" so dont get me wrong...i was just stating an observation

Default means ONLY that "Default". It means when you open the browser you see Bing first ... The other options should still be there ... The word "default" by meaning implies other choices ... Otherwise they would have used a word like "exclusive" ... I still say this is a big F-Up in changing the "Live Search" to Bing .. I'll ask the question again .. Why bring Wiki and Dictionary.com into this fight ... They are not search engines and are not Bing's competition ...

The search box will contain Bing...... and Google, and Wikipedia, etc. The default search engine is always changeable in the browser options. The update was just supposed to add Bing to the list as default, not replaced EVERY FREAKING OPTION. It's obvious that something clearly went wrong, and VZW is misinterpreting what we're saying, since the right hand doesn't talk to the left hand there. The QA for these changes is a complete joke.

The push is not a BB push, it is a Verizon push. Verizon made the deal with Microsoft. What a shock. Microsoft has learned nothing from the antitrust lawsuits they lost involving IE.

Besides the fact that Bing sucks, the more disturbing part of this whole thing is the notion that Verizon feels as though they can push software to phones which have already been bought and paid for. The phones are not theirs for taking such actions. It was bad enough when they pushed offers to the phones, but at least we had a choice. I bought my phone the way it was and they have no right to dictate the software which I run on the phone - nor do they have the right to make changes to that software without permission.

Where is the lawyer who started the lawsuit when Verizon was blocking GPS functionality? He might have an even sweeter case now.

Thank you ... EXACTLY what I was thinking myself ... Just seems to be another VZW / RIM F-Up...

But I read that as just meaning the default "home page"...

    hit http://converge.vzwwap.com or VZStart

They added a BING search box to those pages. And they were the home page set by VZW in my browsers.

Now, if VZW just ADDED Bing as a search provider to the browser, changed it to be the default, and I was able to go back in an change it to what *I* wanted... that would be ok.

Just got off the phone with tech support. She said her phone and everyone else in the office has the same thing. All she could say is to change my home page address to something else. I let her know how frustrated I was that Verizon took all of our choices away from us. That Dictionary and Wiki are not competitors pf Bing. All she could say was sorry.

I did get her to admit that the reason for it is that Microsoft is paying Verizon to boost the use of Bing. She too said it was RIM's fault, but I explained that to her that all other carriers don't have this problem. That it's Verizon who is manipulating RIM's service books to make Bill Gates and his buddies happy.

wow I just noticed that too. I remember that RIM signed a deal with Bing for search but that sucks quite frankly. I dont like bing for search.
I wish they'd sign a deal with Apple, I know this isn't realistic and will never happen but **** I'd rather MAC OS browsers, features etc end up on my blackberry than anything associated with Microsoft.

My friend I'm quite aware of the iPhone however the fact of the matter is Apple OS, and software, etc is far superior to Microsoft in terms of reliability. Sure their hardware is a tad expensive but they also last longer in terms of the countdown to what's considered an obsolete machine etc. I know that won't happen I was just chiming in.

Amen to that brother. Seems our friends Murdoch and Gates have put their pointed heads together to buy off RIM and others to kill Google, like Gates tried to kill Apple. Long live Google a great place to work unlike Micro Satan. Besides what kind of name is Bing? Kind of like Zune.
