But it doesn't hold a candle to the iPhone or any other of dozens of phones for the way a consumer needs to use it.

The only plus BlackBerry has is it is more difficult for the government to track you - but you go to Google & that is out the window, too.

There is nothing high-performance about any BlackBerry. Corolla fits much more accurately than does Porsche. The same mundane, basic sameness, with each a slight evolution on the previous one.

And, like Toyota, quality has been suffering a lot lately.

My plans are to try out the S2 in April.
Give it time to soak in the network for a few months... I'm very excited for it. I've been using the emulator in our system and it looks smooth. Loving the wifi... wondering if I can get away with ditching the bb plan since wifi is avail at work and at home.
not sure what vzw plans to do.. I'll keep my data plan if needed, but with 5.0 and the gmail plugin... woooo... oh, and cant wait to ditch google sync for the auto with Bis 2.8 and os 5

Wifi capable smartphones still require a data plan.

I am in the same situation. No intention of leaving Verizon and my 8330 works flawlessly. I have researched the Tour but in my situation I would gain no advantage "upgrading." I am going to consider the Storm 2. I like the SurePress sceen, wifi, and larger screen. But for now, I'm content with my Curve.

    Agree 100%......
Only thing I wish Storm did was show letters above the keys when pressed like the iphone...

I don't really consider any Blackberry's the best BB. IMO the curves probably the best all around. It seems like the work horse of the BB world. I've put mine through everything and it's still kickin along. It's been dropped (hundreds of times), deep scratches in the screen (they polished out pretty good), got liquid down in the keyboard and even been dropped in a big puddle of gasoline not to mention countless times in oil and floor dry (worked in a automotive shop and it'd fall out of my pocket about every 10 minutes it seemed.

On 5.0.0.230 it does. You can choose whether it pops up immediately or 1 sec, etc.

Yet another indicator of how far behind BlackBerry is.

How long has this been available on other devices? Yet it is coming out on a future BlackBerry OS.
