Jasmine: Welcome to AT&T online Sales support. How may I assist you with placing your order today?

Nester: why choose ATT over Verizon?

Jasmine: I will be glad to assist you!

    Nester: ATT>Verizon?

Jasmine: Only AT&T has Rollover, the ability to keep your unused minutes each month. We offer a vastly superior network as we have the best audio quality in the markets we serve. We also use GSM, the world-standard wireless technology. Finally we offer a variety of Nation & Family Talk plans to fit your unique needs, plus over 20 different phones to choose from as well.

    Nester: thats all? rollover?

Jasmine: We offer the widest coverage area with the fewest dropped calls.

    Nester: fewest dropped call per?

Jasmine: I am unsure what you are asking, could you please rephrase your question?

Nester: fewest dropped calls, best coverage, best audio quality seems like smoke and mirrors. how could verizon compete? i dont get it

Jasmine: I am unsure of what Verizon offers.

Nester: your competitors? unsure? doesnt sound as if you are informed. does another representative know?

Jasmine: We have the best coverage worldwide.

Nester: is that an automated response?

Jasmine: This is not an automated response.

Jasmine: How many lines will be on this account today?

Nester: can another representative sell me on ATT better than you are the best?

Jasmine: How many lines will be on this account today?

Nester: thats automated and starting to become irritating. is that how ATT is? can you help me understand?

Jasmine: What is it that you do not understand, so I can better help you understand?

Nester: how ATT is superior. being the best would trump everybody else and you would have to compete. BUT you do, so what are competing factors?

Jasmine: We offer superior customer service, we offer the fastest network, and are the only network that offers true 3G technology.

Nester: OK customer service says who? and fast and 3G relies on data. that doesnt apply if i wanted a share plan for a phone only. text messing perhaps, but not everybody get a iPhone or BlackBerry, correct?

    Nester: sorry *messaging

Jasmine: I know you will love our service, we have a 30 day trial if you are not completely satisfied you will be able to return for no charge, let's go ahead and get you setup so you can see for yourself!

Nester: thank you for your time but i am not going with ATT today. you boasted customer service and i feel as though my experience today hasnt completely satisfied me. i will however keep ATT in mind when making a final decision. Thanks!!

For the sake of argument - Did you log on to Verizon and attempt a similar interaction? It would be really interesting to see how every online rep responded. Was it bad? I dunno.

lol i called at&t customer service for my sister in law once. after being put on hold for 35 minutes, the rep said it was my fault that the phone wasn't working (it turned out to be an error with the OS). greatttt.

I used to work for AT&T, and I called the call center one time and the rep refused to explain prorations to the customer. Then hung up on me, an employee.

The online chat interaction stinks with all carriers that offer it, and most companies in general.

I believe they are all contracted third-party info providers with cut/paste answers.

Hey - its Friday. Everyone had a hard week. A little fun is all it is.

I am dying to see the results for VZW. Anymore I close that window as the interaction always raises my blood pressure.

I had almost the same conversation with the verizon live chat service. I got so annoyed that I just started replying with the ingredients to a chocolate chip cookie recipe. Service in the store is much better. I dropped sprint and went with verizon, they support more of the functions I like for my BB. My ex husband had ATT, whenever we'd go to the store we'd have to sign in and wait like a doctors office!

You: fewest dropped calls, best coverage, best audio quality seems like smoke and mirrors. how could at&t compete? i dont get it
derrick: You can try the service for 30 days to see if you are satisfied and if not just return the phone.
derrick: How many lines would you need?
You: is that an automated response?
derrick: No. How many lines would you need to set up?
You: can another representative sell me on Verizon better than you or are you the best?

Don't really know what you are looking to achieve, we are told not to bad mouth other companies, or say anything about them, so if you are looking to us to say oh well att sucks it isn't gonna happen. Maybe at a store level where a convo in person can't be tracked a rep will say this but not online or over the phone

you know you are not fact finding. you are messing with someone for your amusement. don't try to put a spin on what you guys are doing. it's condescending.

It is indeed fact finding. I wanted them to tell me why I should go with Verizon instead of At&t. Any person can do that from their website. Any company will try and sell them selves. same as walking into a store.

I can go on there and ask blackberry questions if I feel the need to and I have before when researching the curve.

When it comes to the online assist setups, AT&T does suck. VZW sucks. Any company that uses anything similar also sucks.

This isn't a reflection on the capabilities of the company or their REAL customer service; only pointing out that their Web presence is compromised by bean counters.

Trying to remember - does Sprint/Nextel or T-Mobile run anything similar?
