    Hi,

Couple of questions. Im on a family plan with my parents and have the unlimited data for blackberry as well as the 250 text message plan.

We got a call that I went wayyy over on the text messages and I managed to rack up 150 dollars of charges (lol woops). The only people I text are on Verizon, I thought that Verizon to Verizon texts were unlimited to each other? Did something change?

Also is it possible to use the XXXXX@vtext.com via email to not get charged for them?
VZW to VZW texts are only unlimited on 500 messages/month and over plans. It isn't included on the 250/month plan.

It is possible to use the email version to text them and not get charged on your end. They will get charged however. It will also show up as a text from your email address, not your phone number.

Only way to do it is with google sync. And this syncs with your google calendar. There's also an app to download that will let you sync outlook with google. That's the only other way.

Hi, just a quick question. I think my data plan on my blackberry is unlimited but i'm not sure, so my question is: Does the plan that youre required to sign up for when you buy a blackberry storm have unlimited data? Also, how can I check what plan I have? Thanks.
With the Blackberry I think you have to have the unlimited

Can anyone send me a text at my email address? or do they need to reply to one that I send them first to vtext.com address?

I have a question why is there such a monopoly on phones. Why can't VZW just supply the service and let the phone makers make the phone. this is so frustrating as a consumer. all this unlocking phones and legal crap. drives me up the wall. All I want at the moment is a BB Bold and there is no way to get it unless RIM makes some new thing just for VZW. and what is with the 5 gig tethering to the computer. I want unlimited internet when I connect.

also Why can't VZW require compatibility for both PC and mac. I mean seriously is this too much to ask. I feel like mac users are the red headed step child of the bunch. It can't be that expensive to generate a software for the mac too.

Oh and what is with the no wifi thing its not a bad thing to have on the phone. Let the users be free to have it all.

Personally I say stop putting restrictions on devices.

there is no need. No restrictions = more money and consumers in the long run.

    1. not that simple. Carriers do not have have techology that is identical. Why would RIM build a CDMA Bold if VZW would not want to sell it. That brings to bear that Carriers do not control the MFG. Blows your theory out of the water.

    2. 5GB soft cap of data. You want unlim data, people in helll want ice water too.

    3. over there are a lot of players, with business to run. If you think you can tether your device unlim for 15/30 a month, then start a business and we will see you in bankruptcy court is a short time. now you can go over the 5GB limit - it will cost you .25 per MB and that adds up quick.

    4. Also you want the BOLD - go to ATT and I am sure they will you for use on their network.

    5. not even going to address the WI-FI thing, has been done before and a waste of brain power re-hashing it again.

Bottom line you are making this too simplistic sorry.

You won't be unlocking a Bold for use on VZW, Sprint or USCellular anytime soon. GSM=Square Peg. CDMA=Round Hole.

Chicken drumsticks don't taste like steak either.

Of course, you could always try "unlocking" the lamps in the house by plugging them into the dryer outlet. If all works out well, you will no longer have anything to complain about. To assure that it does all work as intended, stand in water with bare feet while attempting this.
and what is with the 5 gig tethering to the computer. I want unlimited internet when I connect.
And I want a car that will carry 6, handle like a F1 car and get 100MPG, all while giving me that red-blooded American V8 torque. Oh, I want it to cost $49.95, too.

Unlimited Internet - we might be able to talk a carrier into providing it for you - if you're willing to put out about $400/month.

Mac is the red-headed kid, born to an Oriental couple.

More accurately, Mac is the computer of tree-huggers and has been losing market share. It costs twice as much to develop software for the Mac, yet fewer than 10% of computer users use it. No economic sense. Of course, most Mac users have figured this out long ago and know they will always get shafted.

Buy a PC. Your troubles will go away.

Or do as I do on some of my systems - dual boot a good PC into Mac. you will have to do some creative work to get it registered, as Apple refuses to give blessing to using their OS on a PC. Of course, instead of getting everyone to play Mac's closed/restricted game, why don't you insist Mac plays well with other software?

If you run only Mac AND complain about software not running on it, you're a stooge for the lies of Apple & Steve Jobs.

Oh and what is with the no wifi thing its not a bad thing to have on the phone. Let the users be free to have it all.
Probably because the phone design doesn't allow it? Again, search for the info here. You will find all the answers, including the fact your CDMA BlackBerry battery will not handle it anymore than a Ford Escort will fly.

Personally I say stop putting restrictions on devices.
And raise the costs for millions who don't care?

LTE may remove a lot of restrictions, but it isn't here yet.

there is no need. No restrictions = more money and consumers in the long run.
And where are you going to get these consumers? Are we going to have a massive orgy & reproduce them like bunnies?

There are going to be FEWER consumers as more people lose their jobs and taxes skyrocket and the government budget deficit goes out of sight.

Besides, while the bunny idea sounds like fun (I see a nurse over there I could go for), those new consumers won't be ready for a new phone for at least 10 years.

Now, I think I need to doze some more.

Dual booting a PC/MAC is such a great idea! I'm seeing more people, espicially customers, doing this. It serves the purposes of an all purpose PC as well as a tree hugger's device. I was walking a customer through installing a Broadband USB modem on his laptop with a dual boot and the modem was functional on both OS's.

I'm all for relaxing restrictions on devices...only if it means VZW can raise it's prices in other areas and such. Sounds harsh??? How do you think a company is going to pay for it's developers to make the cool and useful apps that you use on a daily basis? More importantly, applying restrictions on devices is good for business and competition. And most importantly, if we raise rates so you can have more access and function to your device that you only pay 25% of the actual retail price for, will you still be a VZW customer knowing that VZW is already tied for most expensive provider with ATT???

If a company like VZW/ATT starts giving everything away, the company loses it's value. Profitability goes down then people lose jobs. I personally love my job and perfectly comfortable with how VZW does business. It's not that I'm a corporate monkey hanging front he ceilings, I just know what is good business.

    Thanks guys.

Can you tell I am not an Apple fan?

With a Mac you have to use something like BootCamp to dual-boot into Windows. Trying to remember the name of the other program - the pain meds have me a little off here - it is better, as it allows you to run Windows in a windowed mode without needing to reboot. Of course, you have to buy a full copy of Windows, too.

Microsoft doesn't put restrictions on what you can install their software on, so you can easily buy, then install it on any Intel-based Mac. Doing it the other way, by putting the Mac OS on a Windows machine, is a little trickier, as Apple doesn't want you installing their software on a non-Mac machine. It can be done, though, and results in a faster overall machine because each OS runs natively and not through any mediating software.

Either way, you end up with the best of both worlds and can easily interface your BlackBerry through Windows and run Apple stuff in Mac.

As time goes on, though, I am finding fewer and fewer times I need to boot into Mac. Windows now does most everything I need it to do better, faster & just as secure as I can do them in Mac.

Question first - have you ever had good reception?

best way to handle this is to call in, reps can check your coverage in this area. THey trouble shoot the issue and if needed do a trouble ticket to network. If you do not have good coverage and never have, the Network extender might be an option. You will need a home network with a router (VPN Capable) and live in licensed VZW area. you can go to New Cell Phones, CPO Cell Phones, Prepaid Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans - Verizon Wireless and do a search for network extender for additional info on this.

If you take the option to call in call at 800-922-0204.

In Fort Knox? No. But, my reception is spotty at my house too. It's fine if I'm in town or in a major area, but at work and at home my reception sucks.. everywhere else though, it's awesome. Oh, irony.

As for the network extender, sure.. except I can't use it at work, and at home, it'd be fine but I'm not really willing to pay an extra 249 dollars when I already pay almost 200 a month for "the largest and most reliable network".

I've spoken with Zoning several times, and have been flat out told "If you don't like it, switch providers". That really sucks since I've been a customer for a few years now. I stay with VZW because the customer service is good.. but even that's starting to degrade. Since being a VZW customer, I have went through 3 VX8500's, 3 VX8550's, a Samsung Glyde (*shutter*), 5 BlackBerry Curves, 3 BlackBerry Storms, and a HTC Touch Pro (which I hated after about 3 days and returned in favor of my Storm. I've had one phone that actually had to be replaced because of my error. I can deal with the throwaway phones, but getting crappy service is really becoming unacceptable.

It is not crappy service, is inside only? if so NO CARRIER will garr. signal in a building. If it outside, then you may have to switch. Even in areas that show as great coverage, there will dead zones, again any carrier.

Sorry to hear you are having this issue and people that have the Net Ext are raving about it.

Good luck with what ever you end up doing.

No, it's everywhere in the Fort Knox/Muldraugh area. Radcliff works just fine, as there's a VZW tower in Lebanon Junction which they can feed off of. There are also Sprint towers which we can roam on, but on base they interfere which makes my reception next to nothing. I can send a text message if I try 3-5 times per message, but I cannot answer a call until I get off post, meanwhile Sprint/T-Mo/ATT users can make/recieve calls/text/internet all day here. At home, I figure it's just cause I live on the outskirts of town.
