If all they did was swtich the device and you kept you plan, I would say that VZW has bought out the Alltel contract and will honor them till you renew. Then it will be with VZW 100%. VZW has a supply of Alltel devices for warr replacements

That's just it, it is actually a VZW device now because for some reason the Alltel device wouldn't stay connected to a tower. The agreement for VZW says if you "activate" a device you accept the terms. I'm not looking to make any changes. Just want to know where I stand.

Without being able to see account info, I would call VZW and get all the info from them.

Any device sold now requires it. If you're talking about getting a phone from a 3rd party there is no public list, if you have some in mind, post here I'll tell you.

Well, I just called VZW and they are saying it does NOT have to have data plan.... guess all I can do is activate it then see what happens.

According to the list above it DOES have to have the plan....unless they mean any phone sold AFTER a certain date??

    EDIT:

OK, called VZW a second time just to see if I got the same answer and I did... no data plan needed. But it is classified as an "advanced device" for ETF purposes, but since I bought it used that does not apply to me.

So that is cleared up... the list I posted above is for ETF purposes.

Correct the above list is not for data plans its the qualification for the new ETF, so no data plan needed for the Glyde and no contract if you bought it yourself. I wasn't trying to steer you wrong

I could have sworn the last time I purchased a phone from VZW I was able to split it up into three payments. I asked when I was in the store and the salesman said that was not an option. Was this ever an option or am I misremembering?

You can make an arrangement, but you risk disruption of service.

Nope - anything placed on your bill is expected to be paid at the due date.

If you're spreading your payment across 3 months, you are missing a payment. Because you are not paying the total due by your due date. Does that make sense? In essense you're still late.

I get it, but it doesn't make sense. I did this in the past with no problems.

The past 2 years there in Care and Tech, that has not been done. So I'm not sure how long ago you did this. Charge to a credit card, you cn take as long as you want to pay that.

we started an alltel plan back in september and then added a line in october. well when we added the line in october it was a verizon phone obviously because the alltels had all been converted or whatever. and they said to change to a verizon plan but the other 3 phones on the plan would have to be changed to a verizon phone.

so i guess my question is that if we switch to a verizon plan:
do we have to pay alltel's ETF?
do we get to change to a verizon plan for free and get new phones at the upgrade price?
do we get to change to a verizon plan and have to pay full retail for new phones?

    Thanks

If any one of your lines is eligible for an upgrade you would be able to upgrade that line and all the others, if you change to a VZW plan. In that case you would be entering a new contract and would not have to pay an ETF.

Ok so even tho we are only 5 months into our contract and would like to switch to a Verizon plan from the Alltel plan, we could do so without having to pay Alltel ETF's? And after changing to the Verizon plan the other 3 lines would require Verizon phones. Would these phones be offered at upgrade price or full retail? I understand that they aren't eligible for upgrade from Alltel, but if they are switched to a Verizon plan they would require Verizon phones....

    Thank you for help
