Just wondering if i was the only one getting annoyed with the BB choices you have with verizon compared to at&t, for example Bold, now 8900, and 8520. Just sucks that verizon has the STORM or Curve no in between at all. And if an AT&T customer would like to get a storm then they just have to get it unlocked. COME ON VERIZON

totally agree - although this really doesn't need its own thread, in the tour forum.

if i didn't get vzw for free id def be with att.

and by the time the tour comes out, ATT will have something a lot newer on the way.

It is not entirely VZWs fault. They can only choose to provide what RIM offers. VZW does not go to phone companies to ask for products. Phone companies offer VZW options. Since VZW is CDMA they cannot get the same phones as AT&T or anyone else unless RIM makes a version that is CDMA. Since more people are on GSM RIM makes more GSM phones because its better for their business to sell more phones. If you want to blame someone blame the socialistic European Union that said that cell phone companies MUST use GSM in Europe. Gotta love governmental regulations....

I agree, I feel like VZW is always left in the dust
also, the fact that the release date for the 9630 is so under-wraps drives me nuts while the curve and pearl flip have already been out for a few months...

The 8900 and 8520 are great phones.... 3 years ago. Neither are 3G. Why get a non-3G device when LTE 4G is right around the corner? Bold is a nice device. Verizon still has the 8830 World Edition, the 8330 Curve, the 9530 Storm and the 8130 Pearl... There have been images of the Blackberry Pearl Flip with the Verizon logo on it. Also the Niagra/Tour coming out this year as well, as well as rumors of a Storm2. I'm not sure I understand what you mean about an AT&T customer getting the Storm... Are you upset because it doesn't go the other way? The reason the Storm can work on AT&T is because it has a SIM card for its global capabilities, other, non-global devices, don't have the SIM card and wouldn't be unlockable on AT&T, and since non of AT&T's phones have the CDMA radio ( which Verizon uses ), none of their phones will work on Verizon's network.

But since both companies have chosen LTE for their 4G networks, maybe in the future it will be possible.... Not to be mean, but if you're upset with Verizon's choice for Blackberry's, why not just go to AT&T? You seem impressed with their lineup.

VZW will be coming out with some nice stuff toward the end of the year.
Don't fret; besides I am standing pat.
Appl may be coming out with smthng for VZW; HTC will be having some new devices, and lastly Motorola.
Be cool and also like one poster said LTE is gonna open a whole new realm.
    Oh and Storm 2.................

And it looks like the tide is about to turn with cdma and gsm being abandoned by China, Japan, S Korea and many more. RIM and others are gearing up for an lte feast of phones starting with a host of phones that will do lte and either cdma or gsm. But since the gsm carriers (yes you AT&T) are dragging feet unable to even deliver widespread and reliable 3G I would think the new momentum will be shifting. Jump to gsm and you might be in the same boat with half your contract left.

The title of this thread is the main reason why I switched from VZW to AT&T two years ago. That and because although CDMA has better voice, GSM is easier to switch phones without a limit during a month's period.

    Another storm on the horizon?

RIM CEO Confirms Storm Sequel is in the Works
Today, 2:10 PM by Eric M. Zeman

RIM co-CEO Jim Ballsillie confirmed that the company is currently engineering a follow up to the Storm touch-based BlackBerry. He noted that the company believes there is a large consumer segment for such a device. Balsillie said "[the Storm] was a huge success in terms of sales and adoption." He also said, "we have next-generation devices with [touch] and the whole roadmap." Balsillie did not provide any specific details, nor did he say when such a product would reach market.

    Tell me something, please........

We all know from reading the Crackberry Blog that Verizon will be getting the "Niagara"/"Tour" which I believe is mean to be the CDMA version of the Bold, but........

We were in Best Buy this weekend (No lines to speak of, but no business either) and I looked at the Bold. What is so exciting to people about this phone? Customers come in asking about it all the time, and when I ask what it is about the Bold that they can't wait for, no one can give me any other answer than it's "Something new". So please tell me what's so special about it?

A little bigger screen. A little more memory. A little faster processor. And they want it to replace a phone they don't use a fourth of the capability on. I figure if their current phone is so terrible that they want away from it so badly, you'd think they'd be smart enough to go with a different brand. No one ever accused these constant grass is always greener types of being rational, realistic nor intelligent in their purchasing selections.

At least Sprint is getting the Pre. Where is Verizon's killer smartphone?

Anyway I am definitely sick of Verizon's terrible phone choice and I'm seriously considering switching over to Sprint once the Palm Pre comes out.

here is how i decided to get VZW

    1) customer service
    1) reliability, and coverage
    2) data speeds
    3) a device capable of using said network, coverage and data speeds
    4) thats what my mom bought me when i was 16

i've used other carrier's devices, not my own, but other people who had them that i associated with frequently, and vicariously experienced through them and their hardships. i could care less for a choice of phones, i'm only gonna use one at a time for a year or more anyway, so give me one good phone that does what i want...

Well that's what I had been told, along with supposed larger keys, and when I looked at it, if it's a "little bigger screen", the difference between that and our Curve 8330 sure isn't much.

    WOW...
do we have a blackberry traitor in our midst????? Palms are soooo inferier to blackberries... ( only up on them is wireless sync )
besides who would want to go to a company who makes you increase your contract everytime you sneeze.
    I'm just sayin'

and where are vzw's killer smartphones???? Is the omnia just a red headed step child here? and the HTC touch pro??? hmmm?

Those are pretty much the same reasons I have for sticking with Verizon. Except for the part about your Mom of course

My only issue that only comes up on occasion is not being able to use Data and Voice at the same time. I have thought about going to AT&T because of it but I know they aren't as reliable as Verizon in my area. Also since LTE isn't too far off, I think I can manage with my Curve then the 9630 until then.

I am a tiny bit jealous of the Bold though. I really do like the larger screen and keyboard. The faster processor is great but I've never felt that my curve was too slow in doing anything other than taking pictures at the highest quality.
