Once upon a time, when I worked for VZW, years ago, and GTE Wireless before that, and before then when they were called GTE Mobilnet, and before that there was a company called CONTEL along side GTE Mobile Communications...yada yada...

So, the talk of the industry through the 90s was that Avg Revenue Per User (ARPU) was going to sink down to $35/month. I remember even seeing a distribution list on the MS Exchange in the office called "$35 World".

I think it's plain to see that the $35/month ARPU never truly materialized, and I was curious about what it is nowadays. I figure that for BB users, it might be somewhere in the $80-100/mo area (for VZW).

So, VZW folks, what's the ****? What's it all stack up to in 2009?

I believe the ARPU for all of VZW is somewhere in the $54 range, I think.

Couldn't tell you what it just is for BB users. Probably somewhere in the mid-90 dollar range to $110...

If I didnt work for VZW my bill would be in excess of 110 every month for me. Instead I pay that for 5 lines.

I work in a very high arpu area and my store pushes out 400~ PDA's a month, so my judgement may be a little skewed, but I would say 100 for PDA users and probably about 60ish for non PDA users.

Yeah, my bill would be creeping towards $300 a month if I didn't work for VZW..

My bill with one normal, non data line was $48.96 a month. I added 3 more lines....the first so I get could my BB for less than 500 bucks, the second to get my fiance a phone and then the third was my sister's. My original left over line went to the fiance's cousin....My line is the only one with data....

All told, I now pay about $200-220 a month with my discount through my employer.

Arpu for the whole company is just over $54. I would say that the average for a PDA/Smartphone user $75. I would only say that it is this low because you have to figure in all the share lines that have PDAs and the $9.99 would help balance it out. But if you just figure induvidual plans here is something to think about
    $39.99 for 450 minutes
    $29.99 for email and web
    $10 for 500 texts and unlimited M2M
    $7.99 for insurance
    $2.99 for VVM
    $.99 for RBT
About $92 a month without tax

yes but also keep in mind there is many who have a corporate discount etc..

so I would probably average it a maybe 3-5 bucks lower just for good measure..

Glad you guys get your discounts! LOL...
My line's in my BF's name and we're too lazy to go through the AOL procedure to change to my name to get my discount. Maybe lazy isnt the word. Scared of a deposit? Better. My credits still in the pits over my divorce.

Anyhow. We give about $147 per mo for our two lines. I'd prolly be looking at that average stated above sans vvm if I were by myself.
    Sounds about right.

I left out discounts and taxes because they vary to much but you are absolutely correct.
