This is only a question based off of a few comments I read around here, but do you think that Verizon has been holding off on official 5.0 updates so they could prepare to have PTT on all their phones? Maybe they'll even release an official 5.0 for the good ol' 8330!

All of VZW's current Blackberrys are already 5.0. I doubt that the 8330 will get the update, and I don't know you would want it. The 9530 barely has enough memory to run 5.0 properly, the 96 megs of memory the curve has probably wouldn't cut it.

Looks like he's already running it on his 8330, as am I. Works great, IMO.

I have a feeling this will be one of those times that they will use as a cut-off point for certain devices. I see more and more apps coming out recently that don't support the 83xx series. PTT would be a good excuse to push people into a newer phone.

Thank you Scionic, for being as observant as you were. When I said a 5.0 update, I didn't necessarily mean an update to 5.0, but an update to a newer version, such as taking the storm 2 up from .320 to something in the high .5XX range like the tour. Also, verizon knows they have a lot of us stuck for at least another year with 8330's like me, so they'd be pretty lacking in foresight to not include the ability to use PTT on the old warhorse. I don't want the PTT but the official 5.0 would be great. The boost mobile version I currently use is okay, but a higher, carrier specific version would be better. And for all the non-believers, the 8330 is great with 5.0. Runs great even with ~22MB of space left after reboot and settle in.
