Contract is up at the end of the month, choices are stay with a blackberry, or jump to droid eris...or wait for a new phone such as the nexus one to come out.

    2year pricing:
    Eris: $99
    8530: 79

    1 year pricing
    eris: $129
    8530: 134

for the 1 year pricing, I may do 1 year service. If I chose the 2 year service when would I be able to upgrade?

your 1 year prices are incorrect. 1 year on an eris is 169.99 after 100 dollar rebate.

Interesting..... you are correct and I am as well.... it depends on which path I choose to get to the phone. I did the upgrade path and it was 129....and I did the drop down on the phone selection and it came up to 169,

It depends...I like one year contracts so you can upgrade after ten months. You usually do pay around seventy dollars more. If you go on a two year contract you can upgrade after twenty months of service unless you are on a higher priced plan and you may qualify for an annual upgrade. I'm the primary account holder on a family plan so I qualify for annual upgrades.

To answer your question, if you are the Primary you can upgrade in 1 year with a 2-year contract. If you are a secondary then you can upgrade in 20 months. So if you want quicker upgrades, you can get a one year and upgrade in 10 months.

Depends on how much your plan is. It has to be over a certain amount to qualify for annual upgrades (family plan).

for $129 the eris on a year contract would be nice....Do like the blackberry but would prefer the tour with a trackpad. Being on a 1 year contract is nice, to upgrade yearly. Been playing with the iphone as well, and I am impressed with it. Main uses are going to be calendar, emails, interet use, and possibly a few apps shopping and what not.

It is not 129 with a 1yr contract. The phones are ALWAYS 70 dollars more on a 1 year than on a 2yr. The 2yr price is 99.99 after the rebate. The 1yr price is not 30 dollars more. If that were the case, everyone would do a 1yr contract.
