Amazing!!!! I've been an avid Crackberry addict for all these years and today I finally learned this tip! Now I can tell my "BIG" sister she has no excuse in not being able to call Jenny Craig from her only phone, the "Curve"

this little trick works perfect on my 8330 with os 5.0. now i can remove that stupid letter dialer app and free up some space

anyone know if this trick works on all QWERTY keyboard phones.... (ie: Samsung link) ????
I was all excited when I found the free LettersDialer app in App World but was a little embarrassed when the first review pointed out that holding "alt" would accomplish the same thing...smh...it took me way too long to discover this tip.

Oh my god. I had no idea that this was possible! I totally thought the concept of mnemonic phone numbers would be over with the age of QWERTY keypad phones. I'm an *****.

I've had my Pearl for about 2 weeks now and I love this thing, but yesterday I stumbled upon my first "problem" with the Pearl ... albeit a minor problem. I had a number to dial in which part of the number was provided as a word -- e.g., 1-800-BEST-BUY. Since the Pearl doesn't have the letters in place that correspond to a typical telephone, I wasn't able to dial the number. I knew that the number "1" was skipped, and then "abc" began with number "2." However, I remembered that a couple of numbers had 4 letters and, at the time, I did not remember that it was the "7" and the "9."

So, I'm thinking that I'll just put a little note in the MemoPad that states what letters are associated with what numbers. Before doing that, I was just wondering if anybody has come up with a better solution.

    Thanks.
    Excellent advice. Thnaks!!

If I had a nickel for everyone I have showed that trick to - I would have been rich a long time ago. Hardly anyone I know who has a Blackberry knows that you can hold alt - and dial the letters of the number - hit send - and your blackberry converts the letters to numbers...

    Looking for cheap blackberrys?

You don't need to do it on the Torch since the virtual keyboad has the letters under the numbers like a regular phone but hey this way could be faster.
