Here is an easy, an instantly useful tip:

Via the Blackberry desktop program it's possible to set-up a default signature, (name, address, contact info. etc) that will be sent by default on all outgoing messages, however this option is not very flexible, and a signature is not always needed, or appropriate to send at the base of every outgoing email.

How to create a customized Blackberry signature(s) that you choose when to use, ie. no need to type it, let your BB automatically insert it when you choose.

    1) Scroll to the "Options" icon
    2) In the resulting list scroll down to "Autotext"
    3) Click with the wheel, and select "New" - under the word "Replace" type a keyboard shortcut ie. zz might be a good option to choose
    4) Under the "With" header type your required signature, ie. perhaps just your name, your firm's name, with or wthout your phone number etc. - then choose click the scroll wheel and choose "Save"

As from now, if you followed the steps above, any time you typed "zz" then hit space, the signature you created will automatically be inserted into your email. You can of course add a second or third version by repeating the same steps, and creating another key combination, or indeed any other auto-text entry.

I didn't think it would retain five lines, but it did!!

I had two auto text set up for two of my teams, but never considered adding more than one line until now.

    Sweet!!!

So, if you just enter 'zz' then press the space bar, in an email, your signature does not show up? Go backto autotext (Options / Autotext), and scroll down to 'zz', verify what text is next to it...

ps: I just tested the original post again, to make sure it's correct. And, it is, and it works...

...just remember this does not just pertain to signatures either! You might have regular words that you type all the time, like in my case CrackBerry.com. So, I have 'cb' setup. All I do, while typing my message to whom ever, is I enter cb, then a space and I get CrackBerry.com

    Quite brilliant, really...

Just so you know, if you simply want a signature you can login to BIS and setup a signature for outgoing emails. Then it will automatically be put on for you. For example, by default it is usually something like "sent from my blackberry mobile device." I took that out because it just clutters the mail and everyone I email already knows I have a BB.

This trick does work good if you have various sigs you have to put in or you frequently type a long url, etc. I know I have several of those programmed into mine.

What a great thing to know! And you could use it as a sort of macro, too; insert specific text that you use often, not just signatures.

    Thanks, Berryman!

Are you on a BIS? Make sure that you have the signature turned off on the BIS website for your default sent from address.

    Trevorhiller,

Thanks, but on my corporate BES I have the auto signature turned off. My yahoo and sprint.blackberry.net email doesn't have this problem. I even went into the auto signature and besides turning it off, I cleared the field.
