Anyone having luck with other carriers unlocked devices getting T-Mobile USA 3G service on the 1900 Mhz frequency?

You can use an unlocked device from Cincinnati Bell, Wind Mobile (Canada) or Mobilicity (Canada). Those carriers use the same AWS 3G frequency bands as T-Mobile.

Actually, in some markets, you can get 1900 MHz 3G on T-Mobile's network when using an AT&T handset. As a condition of the failed merger, AT&T ended up transferring some 1900 MHz bandwidth to T-Mobile.

The problem is, though, this list of transfer markets is not public. I have heard about people in the San Francisco area getting 1900 MHz 3G, but that's about it.

Yeah, I guess I should have been more concise on my statement of 1900..in my head it sounded better. I was referring to the 1900 frequency for say an at&t 9000 running on TMO US 3G as Raino commented. I'm curious what parts of the country are getting refarmed

Thanks Laura, you can add some overseas Vodafone, iWireless from Iowa for the 1700 band or 1,4,8 AWS devices too. And I'm sure there are more [=

The thought of having a 9000 back in my hand on TMO 3G is getting me excited!!

In fact I had a H+ on my unlocked AT&T 9810 both yesterday and today in the Alexandria VA area.

Can't wait till they get some more refarming done!

I get 3G on my iPhone 4S, on T-Mobile, in the Philadelphia area. It's never constant though. I'll see it for 15-20 minutes and then it'll go back to EDGE.

I bought and unlocked an AT&T branded Blackberry Torch 9800 yesterday with the hopes that T-Mobile had added the Greensboro, NC area to the refarm list but no luck. I guess I'll keep waiting. LOL

I resorted to using my old unlocked AT&T 9000 on Tmo..the other day I saw the wireless radio reset on its own and when it came back, I had 3G with the blackberry symbol next to it...however, it didn't stay on 3G for too long..and reverted to EDGE when I moved to another room. I reset the radio manually and was able to duplicate it but it did not stick...this is in the Houston TX area...I'm guessing there's some revamping going on definitely.

Yes there is because now in Cleveland ohio we are getting 3/G speed on the iphone for about a month now and even the unlocked blackberrys from At&t saudi is not picking it up on our towers. Don't get me wrong it is not locking onto the signal for to long but it is progress so I'm happy

Some areas around metro Kansas City areas such as Overland Park, my wife new factory unlocked iPhone picks up AT&T 3/4G bands running TMO SIM.

I am now at Speedway out of city area and see that my wife iPhone also has 3G connection. It seems that the coverage is getting larger. We were in downtown and there was 3G. The signal is quite strong and last the whole time while we were in the coverage areas.

Is there a map of TMO's 1900 3G cell towers?
