I currently have an iphone...I would like to purchase a 9530 & unlock it for the t-mobile network...Is that possible?
If so, once the phone is unlocked will I need a sim? or How do I get it to work for the tmobile network?

So, once the blackberry is unlocked is it automatically unlocked for the tmobile network or do I need to call t-mobile? I hope you guys understand what I'm asking...Thanks!

I am assuming you put a sim card for tmobile in it.
I am not sure I'm on Verizon.
    good luck

Just curious, why are you getting rid of the iphone? I'm not sure how to unlock it so I'm sure someone will have some details for you. Did you try searching for a how to?

To answer you question, yes you will need a t-mobile SIM card to use the phone on t-mobiles network, it does not matter if it a contract or pre-paid SIM as long as the account is active! If you plan on web browsing you will need a blackberry specific data plan on the account, a smartphone plan will not work! Hope this helps!

    good work cal-el

op, also there is a "how to" thread for storms on tmobile specifically, i'd suggest giving that a once over to see what all is involved in getting it working, etc...

So, does the 9530 have a sim slot?

Once it's unlocked, yes you will need a SIM card; from T-Mobile since that's how their phones operate; via sim card. You should be good to go but of course, don't expect any support from them with your Storm.

James, whatever you do wait for the Storm 2 to come out (not much longer). Once you have your device unlocked you can use with any network so if T mobile uses a SIM card it will will work. As far as T mobile is concerned they will see it as another T mobile user, if you use their BB services then you would need to sign up with them as you would with any other carrier.
