I couldn't find a solution to a problem so created a thread here at CB last weekend. Didn't get any responses yet, so just googled it again.

My Crackberry post came up at another site, verbatim, but says "by Hari" (that's not me, I never joined that site). Actually there are lots of CB posts there, also word for word. They just changed the user name. (Yes I realize people can post here and elsewhere as well, but that doesn't seem to be the case.) I randomly selected some more topics listed at that site, then googled the first few lines of the post. Same thing: it originated here but is copied/pasted there under a different user name.

In this one, I can't tell if the Donate button leads back to mobi900's PayPal page because the page times out when loading:

Some (but not all) of their posts have an "originally posted here" link, clicking on it I can see CB as part of the address but end up at some ad site. (I use NoScript in Firefox and allowed adf.ly once and all I saw was an ad to buy something. If I keep adf.ly blocked in Firefox I see "Your site here:10,000 visits/$5.00"

What's up with that? It appears they're collecting a ton of CB threads (and others) and reposting to get money for site visits and/or leading to whatever they are selling?

Maybe CB is selling all the posts. Maybe a moderator can confirm this. Their silence is a little telling.

Thanks for pointing that out.

We are aware of the many sites that quote from and link back to CrackBerry. That is correct way to exercise the Internet Fair Usage policy.

Copying and pasting content, and taking credit for the content, is not fair use. Particularly where there is advertising revenue and possibly reselling of other parties works.

In the case cited, the site www.blackberrytips.info is no longer registered with Domain Name Services. Most likely, they couldn't make any money stealing content and have shut it down.
