I received the following message from Windows Defender while browsing the BB Priv forums. Crackberry.com doesn't seem to be as reliable as it once was. It's laggy and as I've posted before has issues with Adobe Flash.

It seems the site is slowly going down hill. Can you investigate?

This happened again yesterday and this morning. Crackberry.com is not what it used to be.

Eep? What does that mean or is it just a sound byte.

    Which browser are you using?

And are you using an ad-blocker?

The first one you posted is a trojan that is typically the result of the Flash player/plugin having been compromised (likely from installing something else that had the trojan built in). Then when by random chance the user stumbles across a Flash based ad designed to trigger it (many ad-servers do a poor job of vetting the ads submitted to them), the trojan/malware tries to do its dirty work. When you stumble across it, it's not the website that's serving the virus/trojan, but instead one already on your system sitting idly by waiting for a trigger from an innocent source.

I only did cursory research the second example you posted, but it looks to be a similar type of attack.

I'd recommend updating your virus detection and performing a complete scan of your system.

I've had problems with Adobe Flash hanging up in the forums. Last week I removed Adobe Flash to see if it helped but now I get virus warnings.

If the flash player was compromised, then removing Adobe Flash wouldn't fix it. The default flash player was likely replaced by the trojan infected player. So removing Adobe Flash won't fix it as the replacement is still there (and likely why you experienced issues with flash hanging). Basically, you removed the clean version, and the dirty one remains to give you headaches.

Granted, I'm running on 50% speculation. I'm basing it on research into other people across the interwebz experiencing the same. But your symptoms are pretty much inline with other reported cases across the internet.

I removed Flash Player and installed it again. So far so good. I'll run a full virus scan tonight.

Let me know how it works out. Like I mentioned above, I'm 50% spitballing because I'm just going by what others experienced. Though if it was your Flash player being compromised, I suspect that uninstalling and reinstalling it may not fix the issue, as whatever program/process compromised it to begin with may still be residing on your system and will just eventually do it again.

A full scan will definitely help (and with any luck your scanner can remove it), and a google/bing/duckduckgo search for "How to remove <insert virus name here>" wouldn't be a bad idea.

I ran a full scan using Windows Defender and Sophos and neither detected anything. I removed flash for a few days an recently installed it again. So far everything is working fine.

I'll reply to this thread if anything happens again.

    Thanks!

Once again Crackberry.com is showing signs of malware. In installed Malware Bytes today and started getting malware warnings while looking around the forums. This site just doesn't seem safe anymore.

Thurask why can't the webadmins help prevent these problems? I just accessed and logged in to CB on a different machine and the same message appeared. Crackberry is unsafe. It's slowly gone downhill since Kevin left.

It's either you ended up with the same browser hijack crap on the other machine, or something is sending it (ad server?).

Again, are you running any ad-blocker or no-script?

I'm not running any ad blocker. Loaded malwarebytes and it showed allot of warnings from CrackBerry.

Again I ask you why we should load software to keep our machines safe from CrackBerry?

Where is Blaze and the rest of the Web masters?

This morning I removed Firefox and installed Chrome. It's working a bit better but I just received a "Shockwave has crashed" message. It's still working so far,
