There are lots of lengthy topics that seem to go on and on in circles... you can't blame human beings for not reading every single post in a lengthy topic (there are PLENTY of irrelevant "lol" posts that just take time).

In the interests of maintaining civil discourse, perhaps either by vote of users (or possibly just mods) a way to elevate specific posts in a topic as being "essential reading" for a topic, so it DUPLICATES them after the first post (but also renders them in their original "context" in the post order).

This could just be an administrator flag that can be clicked on a post, or it could be by popular vote, but perhaps only if a given post gets, say, 10 upvotes.

Doesn't this already exist in some shape or form in the Q&A threads? Where the answer is marked as 'Answer'?

I recall seeing it several times (not on the CB10 app obviously).

The problem with upvoting forum discussion threads is that often times a post is a reply to a preceding post (even if they don't quote the preceding post),.. as opposed to a Q&A thread like Stack Exchange where all original replies are directed to the Question.

I guess maybe they could preserve the threaded view and just make some sort of color highlight of the 'essential reading' posts. Then you could offer a side 'digest' div which has a quoted snippet of the first few words of the essential reading posts, and clicking on each snippet will scroll the post container div down to that post's location.
