Starting today I'm no longer able to wake my Passport by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. I have to tap the power button and then swipe up to get the login window. Not a major issue but it is a certain diminishment of its BlackBerryness.

Swiping up works fine in other contexts so at first glance not a hardware problem. Has anyone else experienced this and more importantly, solved it?

    Thanks!

I'll check when I get in. Seems to me I had that happen to me yesterday. Will get back to you.

It really doesn't make sense since nothing has changed in the hardware/OS.

True, only the slow decays of time. I'll be interested in whatever observations you bear witness too.

I really have used my passport to type in years, other than the occasional search so my comfort level is way down.

So you find the Nokia 7.2 ok to type on then. Must be a vkb superior to what I have.

I've set up both my 7.2 and X20 with the same settings using gboard and made it look as much as possible as the BB vkb on the Z10. Without the flick of course, but it's close. I've chosen to use long press for numerics and characters.

I'll look that up tomorrow. I'd switched to Swyftkey but i's still an excruciating experience.

The Z10-30 vkbs work so sweetly. It's going out on a limb to say it but I'll say it - it RIM's user focussed design that made them stand out from all the others.

It was awesome indeed, still is but using it in 2022 not so much.

Which brings us back to the original topic - the massively user focussed swipe up to wake function that even IOS 14 and Android 12 haven't caught to, is not working on my Passport.

I'll be able to advise further at about 3am your time.

On your Sadamsung, turn on trusted places in Security and then you can double tap to wake up your phone when you're at home or in one of the 3 Lean-Toes or even the Glean-Toe.

    Settings, Display, Swipe to Wake.

    It's definitely turned on?

No chance it's a replaceable part?

I know, I know. T'other one was what popped up, I didn't search further because I hate doing searches on a phone, it's so awkward and time consuming.

I'll park the info for later, the phone is fine otherwise and I'm not in a hurry for a 2 hour trip into Mississauga with a 60-90 minute wait in a industrial park with nothing to do but walk around. Not even a coffee shop could I find last tinme I was there; Mississauga isn't terribly walkable.

As Yama said - it is certainly replaceable. Question is, is it worth it to you?

It is. I'd miss it a lot if I had to use something else.

    Great for easing spreadsheets.
